Default Puerto Pollensa in 1994

In 1994, in a sadly typical geeky mood, I took my camera and walked along the promenade in Puerto Pollensa, starting at what now is Can Pescador and finishing at Tolo's, snapping in panoramic style. It is interesting to see how the resort has changed in the intervening twenty-odd years. The 44 photos can be viewed here:-

I hope this is of some interest to fellow forum members. Comments and/or observations are welcome.

Dave

Can only say that PP has matured very well since '94

Thank you for taking the time and sharing the pictures.

Superb, thanks. A great 'historical' record.

Have you thought of repeating the exercise exactly, and taking the equivalent 'today' photos from the same spots ?

I really enjoyed looking at your photos - 1994 was our first visit to PP and we have been visiting nearly every year since. It was interesting to see that some things have not changed much at all. I saw a couple of apartments that we have stayed at over the years. I noticed on one photo that on corner next to Supermarket Playa there is a bit of land which has obviously been built on since but I cannot think what it is

Santa Fe now stands on that corner ...we first came in 1998 and it had been built on then..there was a gift shop and flats above ..in later years became The Taj

Forum Folks,

I have reversed the order of the photos to make it more natural, particularly when swiping on a tablet. Apologies to anyone who was viewing while I did this!

That's right, Cath. The restaurant has also taken over a bit of what was the supermarket.

Brilliant photos DaveRave! Nothing much has changed ...our first visit was 1988 and even then it didn't look very different. The biggest change is that you rarely see those white plastic chairs anymore!!! Even the Daina and the Sis Pins had them 'back in the day'

Photos remind me of our 1st visit 1989,stayed at Hostal Galleon.Thomson small&friendly!! It was so, a little basic and "rustic" but magical in a strange way.Llenaire was a quiet relaxing pace in those days. The beach was about 3m wide.sea coming right up to road,Restraunt Llenaire was excellent,Pepe in charge, and far enough away to make a lovely evening stroll to town. The Pine walk was buzzing inthose days, full of craft stalls and musicians every night.
We enjoyed evening meals in Petite Paris, food superb.
Sis Pins did lunches of med types meals never had before! Pork fillet grilled with garlic and pine nuts and green beans roast in the oven! Whoever roast green beans!!
Before the beach was laid customers at Hotel Pollentia would swim from a metal ladder into the sea from a platform by the pavement.
I had a guidebook that told me of a restaurant in Poll called Font de Gall, thought we would go,took a taxi had a drink in sq at Juma, not much else there then, never got to Font, found Can Costa instead, had many happy nights there.
So here I am probably over 100 visits later and PP and Poll still no1 spot.
