Default 1970's Pollensa Park

Think this is an old postcard image [its been on my laptop long enough for me to forget] Must be just after the Polly Park was built in 1970?

None of the apartments we have stayed in the last five years had been built!

Great photo Martyn. I can remember when the beach at Tamarells was just like that .

Its an amazing picture. Makes you realise just how relatively new nearly everything is.

Just look at the Port and see how few boats are moored, and the almost complete lack of urban development.

I love these old photos - They often appear on eBay and I too tend to copy and save them. My wife has many pictures from her childhood in PP during the 1970's and 1980's. They feel like they are from a different world, let alone a few decades ago!

remembered later, I'd been trying to find a picture that might show the old crazy golf course off Calle Bot. Just had another go and this is the closest I got...

Almost Year anybody? 1975?

I was told that first lot of sand was shipped in from the Sahara but was blown away in a storm so after that they dredged the sand up from out in the bay .

I think mid 80s because Tamarells beach bar was just a shack in 1983 and in this photo it has been developed into what it is now .

You can see Hotel Romantic quite clearly before later development of Carrer Bot.

Default old puerto pollensa

Hi,
was really interested in photos from 1970's. I first visited in 1987 and remember waiters crossing the road to deliver drinks etc to concrete terrace I think at about hotel pollentia. Does anyone have photos of this. My Aunt visited in early 1960's would love to see some photos of this era????

Hi Harry - I put a couple of photos in the Miscellaneous section under "My past photos..." but I don't know how to link to it - you will find it if you search.

Sparky? Help!

We first visited in 1985 staying at the Romantic, during our stay we went into the Uyal for a drink and that was it for us. I can remember when the Uyal had a concrete lido and you climbed down steps to get into the sea!
