Default Posting Photos into the New Forum

Adding photos to posts.

To do this
1. find your photo on flickr & click on '+' next to 'ALL SIZES' (displayed above the photo) & select size 'Small' or smaller.

2. Page down & below the photo you will see:

To link to this photo on other websites you can either:
&
2. Grab the photo's URL:

Copy this link for the photo's URL (it will end .jpg)
Then post in the forum & click on the icon of a picture & paste the link in. You should see something like:

HTML Code:
[IMG]http://farm1.static.flickr.com/26/45338297_f194c5a6e3_m.jpg[/IMG]
Then to comply with Flickr rules add a link back to Flickr, by taking Option 1 & copy just the URL, then click on the link icon (when posting in the forum) & paste it in e.g.
HTML Code:
[URL="http://www.flickr.com/photos/31965131@N00/45338297/"]http://www.flickr.com/photos/31965131@N00/45338297/[/URL]
If you want to be really clever you can combine the 2 so that the photo links to flickr as in the example at the top of this post.

HTML Code:
[URL="http://www.flickr.com/photos/31965131@N00/45338297/"][IMG]
http://farm1.static.flickr.com/26/45338297_f194c5a6e3_m.jpg[/IMG][/URL]
Hope that helps,

webmaster

Hello Pollensa,

Posting pictures in this way does not work for me as at the bottom of the screen in ' Posting rules' it says ' HTML code is Off '

maybe the HTML code option needs enabling for members ?

looks like only administrators can post html code at the moment

Mark.

Hi,

you don't need HTML to follow the instructions. Just click on the little icon above the message box - it says 'insert image' when you pass your mouse over it & the 'code' which is actually vBcode will appear in your message as you're composing it. Have a go & see what happens.

Is via Flickr the only way to post a photo on the forum, or are there any other ways?

You can only post photos that are already hosted on another website e.g. flickR or another photo storage website.

Am afraid you cannot upload photos from your PC onto the forum as we do not have enough space to store them.

& as flickR is free, you may as well upload your photos there first & then 'link' to them from your posts.

I should think so.

I'm afraid I don't know how they work but if you already have photos stored on another site, that should be fine but do check the Terms & conditions of that site.

Testing posting photos to see if I can work out how to make this clearer.

Example of a picture that is NOT clickable:

the above picture is loaded with the IMG code as below:

[**IMG**]http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3174/2321434519_d7e8a3504a.jpg[**/IMG**]

(remove the stars / asterisks around the IMG words as I put those in so the code would show on the forum rather than your browser trying to display it !)

Use your own picture address, not mine ! my URL is there as an exapmle.

Example of a picture that is clickable:

Code for the above clickable picture is:

[**URL**="http://www.flickr.com/photos/yo43yo/2321434519/"] [**img**] **http**://farm4.static.flickr.com/3174/2321434519_d7e8a3504a.jpg [**/img**] [**/url**]

(remove the stars / asterisks around the IMG, http and URL words as I put those in so the code would show on the forum rather than your browser trying to display it !)

The URL part of the code is taken from part of the first line of option 1 when looking at the size of the picture you want from your flicker page.
The IMG code part is taken from option 2 on the flickr page.

Pay attention to location of the symbols " / [ ]

Example of the page on Flickr where I refer to 'option 1' and 'option 2'

The stuff below the dashed line is a screen grab from my flickr page that I see when logged in:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hope that helps someone.

Mark.

Just to say, my free account on Flickr has unfortunately reached its maximum limit of photos
So a very effective way is the website mentioned above...
TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting You can from there, upload a photo from your PC by clicking "browse" and "open".
You also have the option to scale an image to a size suitable for your post.
And when you click upload, you are given various links, you need to copy and paste the "IMG code for forums & message boards"
It should look like this... [*IMG]http://i50.tinypic.com/33nes84.gif[/IMG*]

And your image will come out really clear
Thats what I now use for various forums around the internet

Picasa Web Albums also allow you to have a lot of space free - I posted hundreds and hundreds of photos to the site before I had to pay a fee and it was a small amount for a huge memory.
