We arrive tomorrow, nasty in PP is not the same as nasty in the UK! Will make the most of the weather ie shopping for food, unpacking etc knowing that the forcast for the next 8 days is fair to good. Bring it on, one more sleep and that's at The airport hotel so it doesnt really count!

This report for March is from the MDB here :- Majorca Daily Bulletin . Grupo Serra Newspaper . Daily Press . News in English . Online Digital Information . Palma of Majorca Balearic Islands Spain. majorca daily bulletin. grupo serra newspaper . daily press . news in english . online digital info

March 2013 was the second hottest of the past 40 years in Majorca, according to the head of the Balearic met. office, Maria Jose Geurrero.

Last month was the second hottest on record

Palma.—However, at the same time it was also one of the wettest with the island’s two reservoirs at near maximum capacity.
Guerrero reported that the highest temperature recorded last month was 25.6ºC in Pollensa while the average temperature up in Lluc was 11ºC - the norm is 8.6ºC.
At Palma airport, the monthly average temperature was 13ºC when it is normally 11.1ºC.
But, with regards to the rain, in the north of the island it rained more than usual.
In fact, last month’s rainfall in the Serra Tramuntana was nearly double the norm for March while in the rest of the island, rainfall was 25 percent higher than usual.

Guerrero summed up March as being “wet but warm” and also singled out the freak heavy snow fall on March 13 when as much as five centimetres of snow fell below 500 metres and 50 centimetres fell above 800 metres trapping a school trip in Lluc and two coaches of pensioners on the road down to Sa Calobra.

March was also windier than usual, according to Guerrero.
On March 1, gusts of 114 kilometres per hour were recorded in Cadepera and a series of minor incidents were caused by gale force winds throughout the month.

With regards to the next few days, Guerrero warned that an Atlantic front is moving our way and is going to complicate the situation from this afternoon.

Heavy rain and storms are forecast today and tomorrow and the temperatures are expected to fall by between 4ºC and 6ºC respectively so be warned.
Do not get caught by the sudden changes in temperature.
