End of April weather ...
Hi guys and gals :-)
I've got the 27th April - 4th May off work and was wondering what the weather has been like at that time in previous years? I've got a 4yr old who loves swimming in the sea but am not sure the sea temperature would be warm enough that time of year for her .... what do you think? Also, is anything open then like local supermarkets, restaurants etc?
Thanks in advance,
Jo x

For weather history just type "Weather in PP now" followed by the year ie 2012/11/10 etc and scroll through.
All shops, bars and restaurants will be open by the time you visit and the sea should be warm enough fot swimming .

Generally you should be fine I have swum in the sea at Easter for most of the past 20 years almost all of which are earlier than late April.
However the weather hasn't "settled" by then so it can't be guaranteed to be fine every day, but in my experience the sea temperature never seems to stop kids who love swimming getting in ...... It just impacts the time they stay in there
Sea generally warmer than an unheated pool at that time of year
Good tip - flask of hot chocolate and big warm towelling dressing gown to warm up afterwards.

The sea temperature is 18deg today, probably warmer than that in the UK during summer.

Blimey that is warm! Last year when we visited at Easter I braved the pool as my daughter wanted to swim, this year I will suggest the sea instead, for a very quick dip!!!

Sparky, I love reading your daily weather reports - most of the time with envy! And, like so many others, I have scrolled through past years to get an idea of what to expect at particular times before coming.
I was wondering whether it might be helpful if you could split your reports into, say, 4 per year - to save time on the scrolling? Or maybe it would be too complicated..... and I'm just being lazy.......

A while ago I started transferring Sparky's data into graph form for all the years to help people work out what they might expect weather wise, I will see if I can get back to it again!

Thank you Bean Counter, i am afraid that to split past threads would be too complicated and time consuming but i could start to do it from this year if that would make it easier for the future .

The sea's usually warmer than a pool (don't know why) (unless pool is heated!)

Heavens, I certainly didn't mean for you to go back and do previous years, Sparky!! That really would be time-consuming! I just wondered about going forward.
I think a graph would be brilliant, SWS.

A possible quicker way to find the past months you are searching for is that, on average there are 5 pages per month with 15 posts per page, so April's weather would start from about page 20 on the thread .
