Default Spanish non resident tax

I know it's a boring subject, but just got my bill in for this years tax. I am sure somebody wrote a piece in the forum about not having to pay this and I am trying to find it. Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part.

Hola GPM

Sorry to disappoint but you need to pay this else the authorities will catch up with you and take money from your bank account and fine you!!

There have been several discussions on this site, mainly on how to pay without using a lawyer and paying their fees (often more than the tax!!) on top of the tax.

The tax has to be paid before the end of this December for 2011.

Hope someone can advise you more.

Default NIE Number

Is there any way I can get my NIE number (IN UK and not there till Jan 14th)
My Solicitor ( De La Cruz) are either deaf, ignorant or just too lazy to reply to my e mails so I cannot get it from them. Thats all I'll say at the moment but will be taking things further. Assuming they are still in business ofcourse.

You could be mixing up the non-residents tax and the Wealth Tax. The Wealth Tax was suspended for a few years (not abolished as some people think) but that is now back again. From 2010 all property owners are required to pay Wealth Tax (in addition to the non-residents tax) on a sliding scale ranging from 0.2% of the value of a 700,000€ property to 2.5% of the value of a multi-million euro mansion (the first 700,000€ is exempt).
