After everyone at work joking that I wouldn’t be able to take off for PP in my half term break due to the weather forecast being awful-we woke to snow! A bit of a panic with the taxi due to cars being stuck all over Tyneside but we got to the airport with time to spare. The snow ploughs did their job and we took off only a little late landing on time at Palma. Short queue for
car hire. I had guaranteed the car with my credit card but they wouldn’t let us pay with it as it had my name on it and not my husbands who was the named driver. They wouldn’t let us use a debit card. Luckily we had another credit card (emergencies only)in his name.
Anyway all sorted and off to PP.
This was our sixth October half term (and we’ve been in the summer many years ago) and we usually hire a villa but we had left booking late this year and ended up booking an
apartment advertised on this site. It was excellent. Lovely position only a couple of minutes from the front and really cosy. Picking up the keys was easy from the
Daina.
It was pretty mixed week weather wise. High winds some days, bringing down the tree at the back of the apartment, and sunny enough on other days to spend the day at the beach. We went to Palma at the beginning of the week and were drenched even though we were all wearing proper waterproof gear. Parking was tricky. We got into the queue for the underground car park…15 mins later we managed to get out of the queue and headed for the port where we managed to park. The cathedral was beautiful and a good but very wet day was had by all.
On Wednesday we tried to go to the market but the stalls were flying everywhere so we ended up drinking café con leche and eating cake on the pine walk watching the waves. On Friday we went to Pollensa enjoying lunch outside in the square at Club Pollensa.
Well we managed to eat a lot with Hell’s Kitchen being voted a favourite by all of us (even the pickiest vegetarian in the world) Enjoyed a lovely Spanish omelette at the café on the beach (forget it’s name) and managed to stop off most days for the kids to have cake or ice cream or cake at 1919.
It was a fabulous week and we love PP as much as ever –its 22 years since our first visit and it’s just as beautiful as ever.
