Default Spring Clean

I need to do a bit of a spring clean of my apartment and there is a fair amount of rubbish to throw away. It isn't anything that could be taken to the charity shops. Does anyone know of a rubbish tip? I know there are those big dustbins around but I'm not sure about dumping old pillows, worn out towels, broken old beach toys and kitchen stuff etc. Eek!

There are recycle bins all around the Port, the yellow ones are for plastic so beach toys can go in there and there's a white bin which is by the primary school for clothes and textiles.

Where we are (in the countryside) people leave all sorts of items next to the green bins - have even seen old fridges, TVs and other electrical appliances there, mattresses - all sorts. They are never there for more than a day or two so presumably they must be collected by the council when the green bins are emptied? We have also found that if we leave small household items such as old towels, plastic flowerpots etc next to the bin, they usually disappear almost immediately, often within the hour - presumably taken by one of our neighbours! Have no idea what they do with some of them, and wouldn't like to ask... the Wombles are clearly alive and living in Pollensa! Still, at least the items are being recycled rather than going to landfill. (I hasten to add that I'd put anything totally beyond re-use, such as a punctured inflatable, in the recycling bins.)

I agree with Kate - anything not broken, but which we have decided is no longer any use to us, we leave at the side of the green wheelie bin and within 24 hours you can guarantee it is being recycled in another person´s house.

Jellybean, if you're uncomfortable about leaving larger items by the bins, there is a rubbish tip off the Cockerell roundabout in Pollensa (1st left coming from PP). You may have to show proof of 'residence', eg your council tax bill, as sometimes there's a 'jobsworth' on the gate.
