Default Whats going on?

Just checked the Sail and Surf webcam and there is lots of activity, there is a mechanical digger hard at work by the inlet, just wish I could move the camera to see what's going on. Please can any of our wandering reporters tell us what's happening.

Hi Whaley, I think Sparky said yesterday that they were clearing out the sand that had built up, probably from the winter storms.

Smile What's Going On?

They are dredging the inlet/outlet using a digger!
The digger starts out in the middle of the water dragging the stuff off the bottom into the middle, then goes onto the side and digs out the stuff from the middle. (I hope you are following the technical phrases.) There is another digger on the beach trying to level off the previous levelling, done during the strong winds.
Further along the Hotel Uyal continues to attract attention. There are lots of workmen there and yesterday the new furniture was being unloaded, together with lots of carpet. I'm just a bit concerned that they may not be able to get any customers in once they have managed to go from 3* to 4*
The guys doing work on the sea-front pavement at Llenaire, seem to have re-started work. Well at least they seem to be talking about the job!
I wonder if the General Strike on Thursday next week will have any impact?

Cheers!

When the work starts, it really does start doesn't it! Hopefully no more wind and rain to blow away the good job they will be doing, as soon as they stop talking about it that is SM! Looked up your technical wording and now now know exactly what is going on!

Just had a look and all the white 'storage boxes' (?) are out along the edge of the inlet and lots of boats around - isnt it good when everything seems to be waking up. Roll on May

The boxes belong to Sail and Surf. It is where they store the sails and bouyancy aids etc.

When we were there in January we noticed how silted up the inlet was...needed clearing badly...

Not long now 4 weeks and counting til we can check the progress ourselves

Smile What's Going On?

Further along the sea-front at Llenaire, the Restaurant at Hotel Galeon was open this morning for coffee, and there were flowers on the tables! (recognise this touch?)
I went round the corner to Siurell and had the usual warm welcome from Juli.
I asked her what was happening to the Restaurant at Hotel Galeon, and she told me, "I've rented it!"
She already has a Chef and will be up and going very soon!
Pepe is to stay at Siurell.
I wonder what will happen to Restaurant Llenaire set between this competition?

Cheers!

San Miguel.

I spoke to Julia this morning and she has confirmed that Pepe will cook in Siurell and the new chef Pepe has hired, will cook solely in the Galeon - Pepe has worked with the new chef before at Suirell and knows he is competent.

We joked that Pepe only wants to stay at Siurell because he has a comfy chair in front of the TV at the back for his quiet times !

The staff are to be shared between Siurell and the Galeon, with Julia, Marribel and also Juliaīs son helping out where necessary. They will also be taking on another member of staff for July & August when things get very busy. I can see they may well need another 2 or 3 if last year was anything to go by !

Marribel was serving at the Galeon this morning and seems very excited by the new project. Letīs hope it all works well for them.
