Default Rubbish Bins !!!

We spent the early part of this year in the Cala D'or area where we were decorating a property overlooking the marina. During the winter all the traditional green wheelie bins have been replaced in the Santanyi district by new state of the art collection containers that resemble large daleks. They are fixed units (without wheels) in an attractive green/grey exterior with red/white reflective chevrons on all corners for hazard warning - complete with the Santanyi coat of arms. More significantly they appear far more hygenic and secure than the traditional containers and can be opened by handle, lever or foot pedal. As they cannot be left open to the elements you are far less likely to have a cat leaping out of the bin when you are depositing rubbish. The new containers are lifted and emptied by the collecting vehicle. The cost of all the replacement units must have been significant but the benefits are obvious. Does anyone know whether there are any plans to introduce these new units within the Pollenca area?

they already have 'smart' bins with chips (not from Burger King) fitted to adfvise council when they need emptying. They wer fitted in the old town last year.Shame they didnt spend the money on improving PPs main and back roads!!
