Hi redshirt. My father has the same problem and the best people we have found to go through are, strangely enough, the Post Office.
I assume they are some sort of broker, but we have checked out a few others and they do come up as being the most trustworthy and well priced for the medical condition that my father has re his heart.
Give them a go and hope this helps.

If you canīt get insurance then make sure your Father has his European Health Card and it is up to date. It gives full medical cover while you are on holiday. You will will be treated in the Spanish National Health system (in my experience better than some private clinics/hospitals) and there is no financial limit to the amount of cover given. The only downside when compared to private insurance is that it only includes cover within Spain. Repatriation to the UK is not covered.

Natwest offer really good insurance through their advantage gold account, you pay 12.95 per month for a package which gives you stuff like car breakdown cover and insurance for your mobile (which includes fancy i phones too), you are not tied in and can cancel anytime, i love it because once you have the account you don't have to arrange insurance for every trip you make and you don't even need to let them know when your going away, Its very convenient and definately worth a look

Hi,

My husband has a heart condition & we have annual cover for both of us (mine is cheaper!) through All Clear. Have used them for 3 years & prices are good. They were recommended to us by Heart Foundation. They have a website & you have to declare your medical conditions. He does this over the phone. As stated before you must take your European Health card. Hope this helps.

The British Heart Foundation website has a very helpful leaflet about travel insurance with a list of possible insurers, including All Clear.

Hi Redshirt, you can also try getting a policy from 1Cover . I think they have the best price for an insurance policy right now.

Redshirt, You're insurance people seem to be a bit pernicaty(?) if they are worried about a heart condition of 20 years ago. Try Direct Line, i found them very good. Most would be quite happy to insure you with "pre-existing medical conditions" being declared. There might be some exclusions, but that's to keep them covered.
