Default Annoying bleeping / warning

Does anyone know what the audible intermittent bleeping, late at night, through until light, is?
We were staying in an apartment on the pine walk, just adjacent to the telephone box and seat and, try as I might, I couldn't "home in" on it?

We have also heard this noise and think it is the alarm system for the large villa just near the phone box as it seems to come from their grounds

Didn't realise it was noisy enough to actually be annoying but I guess it's different if you are staying nearby as opposed to just walking past

CD - Yes, I thought that it was coming from that villa also, but I walked around the villa and couldn't convince myself that it was from within the grounds. Anyway, no big deal, but it was annoying at night, trying to get to sleep!

Similar to us - we had an entry 'phone to an apartment block near us where the 'phone had been left off the hook and the people were away. I tracked it down after a few days and put it out of its misery! We now have an air-con unit that needs oiling in a villa nearby - have told the owner's agent who has done nothing about it - trying to work out how to silence this at the moment :-)

Yes, heard that annoying noise when we were out in April!
Someone tried to convince me it was a scops owl but it seemed to be be too regular to be one of those lovely birds. Would love to know as it is audible in the still of night.

It could well be a scops owl! They do bleep with incredible regularity and sound more like an electronic device than a bird. After a time you learn to filter them out - which is just as well, because waiting for that next 'bleep' can send you crazy...

Default Bleeping Noise [resolved]

I live on the pine walk and have indeed wondered what on earth it is. Some times it's closer and sometimes further away....
But as mentioned above the Scops owl it sounds EXACTLY the same!!
You can hear it here
YouTube - ‪Scops Owl calling‬‏
And also louder: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNFpb...eature=related

We used to stay near the Polypark and one year i could hear that noise all night long, i too was convinced it must be an alarm system until one of the local bar owners told me about the owl that nested in the Guardia Civil barracks, have since heard it a couple of times here in the Port.

Default beep beep beep

Yes Lola and I suffered the same fate on one of our visits. a few years ago we were sating in Crespi Appts close to Oro Playa which at that time was still shut, so I did a reccee round the place looking for the dodgey alarm. Next day one of the locals told us it was a Scops Owl and the very next day we were down the other end of the town nr Pollenca Park and we heard the same sound. We went on the net and found a web site about the bird which played its call . Bang on , mystery solved. Cant wait to hear it again so roll on Sunday.

Hola Slipalong & Lola - have a lovely time in PP - and don't forget to try some of Miguel's lovely tapas in the Rustic Cafe.

I am certain that the noise you are hearing is the Scops Owl. We currently have one nesting in the kitchen vent of the next block to us. We used to think it was an alarm as well when we first bouth our apartment.

Well that explains one little mystery that has been intruiging us for years when we stay in the country area - it goes on all night but not in an intrusive way. We never thought it could be an owl as it was such a regular 'beep'. Thanks for clearing that one up and when I get the sound sorted out on the computer, I'll give it a listen
