I am sure if the ash cloud does start drifting towards Europe the airlines will be much better prepared than last year they wont want to be losing money again, they found a way round the problem last year sure it will be fine.

From Icelandic Met Office:

'The Grímsvötn volcano is Iceland‘s most active volcano. It last erupted in 2004 and the current eruption is in a similar location'

Sp hopefully the disruption should be the same as it was in 2004....er...non-existent.

Latest form the European air traffic control

Update on European air traffic situation following Grimsvötn eruption 16:00 CET
23 MAY 2011

Volcanic ash concentration chart published by the London VAAC showing ash dispersion of the Grimsvötn ash plume Brussels, Belgium - As of 16:00 CET today, EUROCONTROL has the following update to make with regard to the situation of air traffic in Europe.

There has been no significant impact on flights today as a result of the eruption of the Grimsvötn volcano in Iceland.

However, according to the Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre (VAAC) in London, there is a strong possibility that parts of the ash cloud may impact parts of Scotland and Ireland in the coming 24 hours. Due to unstable meteorological conditions, it is not possible to identify with certainty the movements of the ash cloud beyond that time frame.

The next traffic update will be issued around 10:00 CET tomorrow, 24 May

The soundbites seem to be saying there will be nowhere near the disruption of last year. Let's all adopt a "glass half full" attitude. Worrying gets you nowhere.
