The market comes home.
It is reported in the Talk of the North that the market will return to the square on Wednesday 18th May. :D

That's great news! I'm sure all the stall holders and bar owners will be more than happy. The market was pretty grim when it was in the carpark

Great news Sparky!
Greatly relieved to hear the news about the market. Due out on June 20 and PP wouldn't seem the same without the market being in it's traditional place! Thanks for all the photographs Sparky - glad I didn't start watching them in February!
The market is back in the square today :D.
Yes and there is still plenty of room for more stalls to return. Did you notice Sparky, the lights on the side of Maxim's are in place ,so may be they will finish the other side tomorrow.
Yes Lollipop i did and i think it may well be completely finished very soon now. There is a real buzz about the Port at the moment, don't you think?. :D:D
Yes I do and it felt right the market being back and the new seating didn't seem to interfere too much, just need to get the centre opened up properly ,but I guess they are just waitng for the concrete to harden properly.

Have posted some photos of today's market take a look here :- Spring / Summer 2011 - a set on Flickr

You must have been up early on wednesday morning Sparky, doesn't appear to be many people around, we got there about 10.30am and it was quite busy.
Is the Wednesday market just in the square now or does it still go up the side streets, asking because we are staying in a street where the market is in the summer, thanks.
SWS, it is mostly confined to the square and immediate area, it's much smaller in winter mainly selling fruit, veg and flowers, with a few clothes and shoes etc.
There won't be anything in the road you are staying in ;). |
Thanks Sparky, wouldn't have been a problem in fact I could have sat on the balcony and watched the world go by, it was just more for access in and out, thanks for your prompt reply as always! ;)
