Pretty face Snows!

Happy New Year to everyone - especially those of us who had a rotten Christmas with illness! Time to make up for it!

Wink Oldies but goodies!

The kids were all out at various ridiculously priced ticket only pubs and clubs, leaving us sick oldies to our own home bound New Years Eve.

All the Christmas lights are switched on and the candles lit for atmosphere.
Hubby on one sofa, me on the other. As if a sofa apart can stop bugs from flapping their horrid invisible wings from one to the other as they have done over the past 3 weeks!
Anyway, TV switched on to watch the spectacle of fireworks which defies the rumours that the country is suffering financial wise. I look at Big Ben on the TV and then at my mobile. Strange, Big Ben is 3 minutes ahead this year – another government plot for something obviously, may take some time to work out what though, perhaps I’ll just alter my mobile and ignore it.

Getting closer to midnight and hubby looks over and takes a deep breath, it’s a struggle at the moment; Would I like a glass of champagne to see the New Year in?
Not really. Just the two of us – him still on antibiotics so not really a good idea anyway. Lets wait a couple of days then the whole bottle won’t be wasted as the kids will be round.
What about a cup of tea then?
A glare is answer enough.
Ok – he’s trying hard now. What about some grapes?
Result! Excellent idea.
Rush to the fridge and get two plates of 12 grapes out in time for the Big Ben toll of 2011.
One grape to be chewed and swallowed on each dong of the bell.
As hubby can hardly breath it will be a bit of a one sided competition, but hey, I’ll take a win anyway I can at the moment!

Chew, swallow, chew, swallow, chew swallow, chew – chew – chew, gulp, chew, swallow, chew, chew, choke, swallow, shove in mouth, shove, shove, - 12! Last BONG – DONE IT! (Try and swallow hurriedly!)

Hubby stands up with three left – not bad going under the circumstances I suppose.
Happy New Year darling – well done!
Burble, choke, splutter – just make do with a hug for the moment – speech will come later!
Rush upstairs to see London skyline alight with flying Chinese lanterns. Dozens of them! Beautiful sight with the back drop of fireworks.
Back down stairs, open the front door and wave at neighbour across the road who has decided to just wave out of the window this year rather than open the door.
Just us keeping up with tradition then this year!
Heart burn.
Flipping grapes!
Fancy a cup of tea?
Ok.
Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! Hopefully see some of you in Puerto Pollensa during the summer.
Bella - get well soon and we couldn't believe the number of chinese lanterns here, never seen so many before. I would love to see them in PP floating out over the bay or up over the mountains.

Bella, I really feel for you. I hope you and hubby are feeling better. Your descriptive writing of your New year did bring a smile but only because I could visualise what you were writing.
An excellent help to recovery is to think about your next visit to PP and visualise that wonderful Bay. The sun will soon shine and you will feel loads better.

Happy New year and hope you feel better very soon.
