Default Authentic tapas

Hi all

Does anyone know where I can get authentic tapas from in the port, old town or Alcudia area please?

And by "authentic" I mean where the locals go, not the plastic menu-out-of-a-freezerbag ones on the front!!

There is one on the corner near the Hibiscus restaurant I think which seems to have locals in? Has anyone been in there?

Cheers.

I think you mean Neptune on the corner where the Pollensa Poppets had lovely tapas in September. When you go inside the tapas are laid out under a glass counter and you can see how they look. Lots of locals eat here and you can see into the kitchen. We had meatballs, fried peppers (which is apparently a risk as someone may get a hot one), potatoe salad, squid and something else. I was all beautiful and around 5 euros a plentiful portion.

That Belladonna was telling fibs she said the Girls Night Out was held at Nico's. I thought when I read her post that they didn't do Tapas there

My favourite place for tapas is El Temple in Pollensa...and it's full of locals!

Ah, well it began with N! Surprised no one picked me up on it before! There were certainly good choices , although the Padron Peppers were easy peasy! Evidently "manana" is always the day for hot ones to arrive!

Other places to try are the coffee shops around old town Alcudia on market day where the locals sit.

Default Ca'n Punyetes

Ca'n Punyetes in the Port of Alcudia is my favourite for Tapas. Excellent food. Great atmosphere and excellent value for money. Very popular with with locals both in and out of season. It can get very busy as with most good restaurants so you may have to wait a while for a table.

Thanks all. I'll try L'Olivera and Neptune first.

Keep the replies coming in though. Cheers.

Naciente has a good tapas menu. Particularly like their chistorras.

Marilyn Hi!

Can't say I'd heard of chistorras , however googled it and found the reference to Basque tapas, which we have had some cracking samples of on the mainland, Catalunya.

Lizarran in Palma serves the Basque type tapas, and is highly recommended.

Default TaPalma - Tapas Fair Palma

Thanks for adding it to the calendar. I've now also added their website - checkout Tapalma 2010 for more info including the routes. Even if you can't make those dates, it gives you a useful list of places to try in future.

Default tapas

My favourite is Bar Neptuno where the Pollensa Poppets went for a bit to eat in September :-) Always delicious tapas and full of locals.

La Bodeguita is also good for tapas. Run by a family from Seville there is always a good atmosphere in there. There are no tapas on show - more a question of saying what you would like and then they cook it for you. So always nice & fresh. Not sure of the name of the street it's in but it's located just by the car park in PP. Definitely worth a visit!
