Update....something terrible has happened
Just an update amd to say a huge thank you for all your good wishes, it has been very inspiring for us to read.
We enjoyed a lovely stroll along the Pine Walk yesterday and had a lovely evening with Slipalong and Lola - thank you so much - your company was so
uplifting.
We are now sorted for money, and we shall just settle in and enjoy our holiday, we usually enjoy a drink at the Daina in the evenings and do a bit of people watching.....if you are in that area please say hi...its lovely to meet all you really nice folk.
Purto pollenca is as lovely as ever......just glorious. Smiley faces from now on

Thanks for the update Susie. Onwards and upwards as they say. Glad you are getting into the swing of what it's all about in PP.

Susie so glad you're recovering from your experience and hopefully after a few days in PP the awful memory of what happened will start to fade.
And Paul , we go out next Tuesday too so may see you around the Port....hopefully in your smartest shorts and a clean shirt!!!

Glad you are managing to sort things out Susie, it just reinforces that wherever you are you need to be wary, we lost all our luggage in Rome about 18mths ago.

Maybe it would be an idea for all airlines to warn passengers before they leave the aircraft that they need to stay alert to these criminals. As could all hire car companies and owners who rent out privately.

Yes I think you are right, Sparky. We will certainly send info to our renters of the different schemes. Don't want to worry people too much but it is important for them to be aware.
As already said, this happens everywhere.

Glad to hear you are ok susiejb and what fantastic responses from various forum members
I always pack a small soft handbag in my hand luggage and as soon as I get "air side" i can then make sure i have my purses /passports etc to hand and this means that when through passport control etc i can keep everything close .leaving palma airport is often a nightmare so i will take even more care this time.

Susie
So glad you are ok and able to now start to enjoy your holiday
A shocking wake up call for all of us but so great that the forum members rallied to help ...... a real sense of community, brought a tear to my eye.
Enjoy the rest of your holiday

couple of further thoughts?
when collecting car from ground floor of multi-storey, just the driver goes to collect, armed with key only
other pax wait with bags on the side of the exit road from airport ( on RHS of rd after turning left out of car park exit) then load up there, out in the open
split cash between pax, & put some in hold bagage?
invest in a 'card safe' type of insurance, which will cancel all cards, report lost passport, etc, with 1 phone call - ours is with AMEX & costs about £25 pa - they also offer a 'lost key' drop service
be safe out there

We use CPP for the same service - ever since OH lost his wallet some years ago, with driver's licence, cards, etc Cost about the same as AMEX. Happily, we haven't had to use it yet - but well worth it for the peace of mind of only one phone call!
