One thread mentioned that it was going to be used as a bus station. Others may be able to clarify or correct this?

Am I dreaming ( hey is this a new idea for a thread ) or did I once hear that the old school site was to be tiurned into an extension of the square and would become an auditorium for music festivals etc

Sounds a great idea ........ imagine all the July fiesta activities if there were more space and perm seating and I am sure the kiddies would love yo run around and play there at other times

But I guess something lik ethat doesn;t generate revenue and as they say "money makes the world go round "

CD you are right, that was another plan for the old school. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens, i thought the bus station idea was odd, can you imagine trying to get buses and coaches through the streets of PP?.

CD,

You're absolutely right in that if the Council had the money an auditorium would be on the cards , and it would be a great asset ( a la the auditorium in Alcudia ) which is remarkable for such a small place .

Think we will just have to hold our breath to see whether they will ever be able to fund it . Remember the Port is competing with Pollenca Town as well who seem to have a bigger call on the dosh .

Surely PP generates the bulk of the income?

I'm sure PP does generate the income but the attitude of the council seems to be completely different between Pollensa nd Puerto Pollensa with th eformer appearing to get the lions share of the funbding and with the council also appearing to take far more action to protect the nature of Pollensa than it does for Puerto Pollensa ................... my understanding is that planning laws are rigorously uphelp in Pollensa ........ remember the banner in the square because the houses were not even allowed to install modern plumbing

I am not complaining about Pollensa having these tight regulations .... I applaud it and love the way it is protected , I just wish it didn't sometimes appear as though the port was as a poor relation

They appear to be re structuring the inside of the school rather than knocking it down, watch this space.

My son has just returned from PP and has it on good authority that the school
is being converted into new Council Offices and Police Headquarters - all under the one roof. Makes good sense I suppose.
