Default Your favourite PP evoking song?

Ok folks, I maybe scraping the bottom of the barrel here (you can tell the holiday's are getting closer!):

If you could name one song or one piece of music that instantly reminds you of PP, then what would it be?

For me (and it may be a little bit naff) it's the Madonna song "La Isla Bonita", a very apt title and brings back instant memories. You can almost smell the Mallorcan countryside or imagine yourself walking around the narrow streets of Pollensa on a hot summer's day. Not a great fan of her's (although the Missus is), and am more of a three chord thrash punk man, but that song just does it for me. Anything by the late, great Bob Marley has a similar way of bringing instant sunshine and will sometimes nudge the memory a bit.

What's on your ipod? Discuss.

Sorry about the tenuous link to PP!

Well Paul you are a man after my own heart, I could have posted that, before I got down to your choice I already had said Madonna, they played it on the radio last year when we were driving along the coast road, brought a tear to the eye. One of the first songs I play on Itunes when I get to work in the morning, the words say it all.

I think this is a great thread!

For me it would be 'Lovely Day' by Bill Withers - fantastic song, says it all. Or alternatively 'Tender' by Blur - which isn't in the least evocative of being on holiday but was being played seemingly everywhere in Pollensa bars in - what, 1999 or 2000? - when we were starting tentatively to think about buying a place there. It first seemed like home that summer and I always think about it when I hear that song.

When i was packing and preparing for our move to this wonderful place my "anthem" was and still is "There's a place in the sun" by Stevie Wonder.

The whole of Ricky Martin's album, but particularly Livin' La Vida Loca. Just love it!

Mambo no 5 by Lou Vega!

Great nights spent in Coconuts probably 2000. Will never forget hubby, friend Paul and our Mallorquin friend Joan playing pool, cues in hand contemplating their next shots, and three bums wiggling in time to this cheesy song...Priceless

And although not my favourite song it obviously evokes some pretty strong memories of PP for this lady!!!

Here's a rough translation of the lyrics courtesy of my daughter!
It starts off with the girl saying 'Lets go to Palma de Mallorca to relive that marvellous moment of my last love story in Puerto Pollensa'

She then (rather painfuly ) 'sings' in eurovision style about this boy she likes and eyes meeting across the room, and his fear stopping him approaching her. Then her not being able to say anything and the panic because she was scared of being rejected 'like a seed that can't see the light :\ ' So they watch and wait....for a very long time !!!!

Anyway they finally do get it together and their ' love grew, feeding off the sun' ..they spent romantic days on the beach. Cue sound of waves lapping on the shore and her looking dreamy. LOL!

YouTube - Marilina Ross «Puerto Pollensa» (1982)

Early evening, sun setting across the bay; ice clinking in glass. It has to be Albatross, by Fleetwood Mac.

How Deep Is Your Love by The Bee Gees reminds me of the mid 70's.
Anything by Julio Iglesias reminds me of the early 80's
There used to be a group who played at Yum Yum who were rather good.

Completely different to suggestions so far but mine is twinkle twinkle little star for the fantastic memory of now 16 year old daughter singing it at the top of her voice as we pushed her down the pinewalk most evenings on our way back from dinner when she was 2 or 3 years old

She was absolutely mesmorised by the brightness and the number of stars as at the time we lived in a pretty built up area with lots of light polution and so she had never seen anything like it

most evenings anyone who passed us would join in

and guess what ............ she still sings it as we wander home along the pine walk but wouldn't want me broadcasting the fact so shhhhhh
