Not sure if any of you have caught it but there's an article in todays El Pais that from July 1st the consumption of alcohol outdoors is to be banned. Apparently smokers outdoors and drinkers in from that date.

Thought we had a nanny state :(

The Minister of the Interior Manuel Lehba states " we have been concerned for sometime that the effect sunshine combined with alcohol has on many people that we believe , now, is the time to take action ".

blimey, what an impact this is going to have on our beloved bars :(

Do they really mean outside bars or just public places, there is no way that law would ever be enforced, I know Spain, like a lot of places, has a problem with people drinking outside and having large parties on the beach and along the Harbour road like in Palma, I am sure the Spanish people wouldn't except a complete ban?

Especially not on April 1st ;)

Maybe timed to be in force before all the oil exploration workers arrive in October.

Would not want rig workers wandering around drinking cans of beer etc

If only indoor drinking is allowed some bars may benefit.
