Default price rise protest 15th Feb

I have just been forwarded this message from a friend in Palma. It may be of interest to some.

Message from Kate Mentink

As Honorary President of the Association Europeos por Espana I wish to inform you of a national protest against the massive price rises imposed by the national government through Gesa-Endesa (and other companies). This protest is planned for Monday 15th of Feb to coincide with the National Day of the Consumer. Participation is easy. Switch off all electrical appliances at 22.00 for 5 minutes. Pass the message on.

What a fantastic idea. The Spanish really do not stand for any nonsense do they ?!

I've often thought about doing similar things in Britain but we're all so "wimpish" !

Particularly when "Sky TV" put their prices up I thought, what would happen if EVERYONE cancelled their subscription for a month. They'd go bust !!!

Will have to remember to do this - if anyone knows any of the Corrie actors could you ask them to remind me at the end of the Street

many years ago in US, record companies decided to increase the price of lps ( remember them?) by $1, quite a hike

a campaigm was started along the lines of - no-one needs another lp, don't buy one for a couple of months - the cash flow problems soon caused a rethink

there are so many suppliers who rip off UK customers for things that we may like to have, but don't need

how can we mobilise support for a campaign which says - don't buy it at that price? a couple of months of negative cash flow may well have an impact, but how to get the ball rolling?
