Hi Eleanor,
Thanks for the sound advice, its just that I was a bit concerned as regard the timeing having been told that the NIE office near closes down for the month of August.
Reading some of the past posts on the board regarding animals, I think we think alike on some things.
Again many thanks.
Rod.

Well done Rod... go for it!

Have first child on way to Uni and second starting GCSEs - although he says he'd be happy to move out there now! LOL! (I wonder why he chose Spanish for next year?!)..

So soon as we can, but we'll keep a bolthole back here...

Meanwhile this year I'll have to be happy with getting out there to use up my hols during the various school holiday periods...

Love the place! (but don't go into the port that much to be honest)...

This is a question we will need to answer in 4 or 5 years time. The feeling at the moment is 'no, not a permanent move' but that could change.

The current plan is to continue as we are for now - 4 or 5 visits a year (and yes... in winter too, out there on the 14th) and for longer periods when we retire. But I think we'll always have a place in the UK. But as I saig, who knows?

Hi love the place and dream of our visits, and can never stay long enough. However, I think you have to be young enough to make the move permanent. This is so that you can build your life and make friends over a period of years. I suppose it is nice to have a property on the island and in the UK the best of both worlds. Coming over in Feb,,,counting the days.

Default would you move to pp

Interesting repies, for what it's worth I would def not move out lock stock and barrel, I have a lovely family here and although I enjoy going to PP as many times a year as the finances will allow, I to think home is where the heart is, weather and surroundings do play a part but nothing can take the place of seeing people in the flesh...its too easy to get caught up in the romantic notion of what life would be like, but sometimes common sense does have to prevail...the best of both worlds would be a place in england and PP but that too costs...good luck with your decision.
