I think it is the 'proper name' of the nature reserve around the river, which is a lovely area for a stroll as long as the mossies are munching elsewhere

I think, but may be wrong, that it means something like 'damp (humid) space' i.e. wetlands but I could be barking up a completely wrong tree

& there is probably a much better translation!

What about 'espai de humit' in Catalan it means wet area, that describes the area well?

As usual I've got the wrong spelling, you are spot on, and yes it does mean wetland as it's an extension of the nearby Albeferita(no doubt incorrectly spelt) But don't worry there are lots of very dry walkways to get you around the area!

Walked round the new wetland a couple of times back in June this year. Tried the previous year but the fence was still up to keep people out!
Very nice early morning / evening walk (not too hot then). Lots to look out for..... Birds / Water Fowl / Butterflies / Insects / Small Amphibians / Trees / Plants / etc.
But watch out... the locals also use it as a 'dog-walk'.
