Default Bus Station

We were told yesterday by a friend in PP that they had heard on a local news bulletin that the bus station is to be moved to the top of the town. Is this fact or someone with a vivid imagination? Anyone else heard this?

Hi, I've been told that the new bus station will be beside the square where the old school is (together with the medical centre and other offices). Building should be starting soon. The current bus stop was always a temporary arrangement.

Default Bus Station

Thanks for the reply, it confirms what our friends have said they had heard. I didn't know the current location was "temporary" but I guess that with the pedestrianisation of the sea front, it makes sense to re-route the bus. It will not be long before we shan't recognise the "old place" !

On the site of the old school?

Surely that's going to create a lot of noise and exhaust pollution right in the area of the square and there have been lots of new flats built there over recent years.

Crowds of people and buses going through already narrow streets, just think about the bendy buses?

Not on the actual site of the old school where it joins the square, other end of block (but I'm thinking of taking bets that it will actually be behind the health centre by the roundabout, more space and more logical -- not that that necessarily means anything with this council!)

Hi, any more news on this? We have booked Bressol Apts next to the old school with Travel Club for August and they know nothing about it

Any info welcome!

Nothing happening yet which makes it look doubtful for anything being built this year, but I guess it is all tied in with the pedestrianisation of the front line which appears to be stalled at the moment, too.

Has anyone got any news of anything happening on the site of the old school in the square yet? Presumably nothing has been built on it yet?

Well, if the Council stick to their own rules re building works, nothing will happen until the end of the tourist season at the earliest.

As to checking what is happening, is there the equivalent of a planning register, where the public (those who can read Castillian or Mallorquin, that is) can check on proposed developments?

Default Bus station/site of school in the Square

Thanks for that - I certainly hope there is no building work going on now! That would be great to see a planning register - my son has just graduated in French and Spanish so I have a translator available!

Is the site of the school just an empty space then - can anyone give me up to date news?

Thanks!
