Might be worth looking at Nerja/Costa del Sol ..although built up now on the outskirts, the centre of the town is very much like it was 20 or more years ago.lots of restuarants, good beaches (Burriana in particular) and the Balcon de Europa.Plenty of places to rent if you are looking to go to an apartment. Also several hotels which can be booked direct or through tour operator...

Not easy :)

Looking back at last years weather for 1st week in November in Palma here:

then comparing for example to Gran Canaria, Canary Islands for the same week last year:

Rhodes in Greece ( as an exapmle)

Travelling a bit further gets slightly warmer daytime and much warmer night times in November.

The challenge is to find somewhere smallish with a bit of character thats warm in the winter :)

Not sure where is as nice as Pollensa though :)

In the Winter we just take jumpers and a coat for night times have a beach to ourselves usually...

Mark, cant remember my flickr password etc otherwise I would have posted comments directly there, but must just say I love your eye for a photo! The lovers in the moonlight could certainly be made into something special - zoom and crop and a big of haze perhaps? Also love the day and night shot of the road in Pollensa - and most of the others too! Well done!:)

I stayed in a lovely village called Peyia, nr Paphos in Cyprus. A couple of bars and good tavernas so ideal for a week. Coral Bay beach is just down the road.

Walked around in shorts an t-shirt even in December.

Quiet and laid back, and with EJ now flying there you can get some good mid-week flights.

With all the poor weather in PP so far I am off there again next week :)

Cypus is a beautiful island and November is still warm. Ive never been to Turkey but its also warm in November and has some very pretty looking resorts - ole denez being one.

Depends what your looking for but I like LOS cristianos in Tenerife, superb restaurants, two great beaches and a harbour. Much of it has a very spanish feel. Not as quiet or as pretty as PP but a great winter destination.

HI,
We used to enjoy some winter sunshine every January before our son went to school last year. Puerto Mogan in Gran Canaria is where we stayed , beautiful little port , lovely restaurants , although it is small in comparison to PP. the temp is usually 22- 25 degrees in daytime, very pleasant. The interior of the island is also well worth exploring.
regards TT

Thankyou for all your help!! I stayed in Los cristianos in March and had a good time, spending alot of time on boat trips and around the harbour, but found that away from the immediate harbour/las vistas area was a bit too commercial and there were alot of touts.

I have stayed in Puerto rico, gran canaria about 5 years ago and visited Puerto mogan, which was very nice then, so it's gone onto the list! Are there many touts in Mogan nowadays?

Paphos is definately on the list, thankyou for the tips on good villages to stay, Paphos harbour looks lovely with lots of places to visit. However reading reviews on tripadvisor i hear there are alot of timeshare touts. Are they just in the main resort areas? It would be great to hear of your experiences of restaurant/bar pr people and timeshare touts in Paphos area.

Finally, we are lucky enough to visit Puerto pollensa once or twice a year, but this year i have promised that i will try other places. so i will (and then next year get my own way and come to Puerto pollensa for every holiday!!). I have got 10 days in September to keep me going!

Thankyou again for all your help! I'll let you know where i go:)

Scared of Asking

I have wanted to ask this question for weeks, but didn't want to offend anyone on the PP forum! :o

I have a one week holiday at the end of June (from Sat 28th) and would like to go elsewhere in Spain. We have been to Mallorca three times in two years now and would like to go somewhere as similar as possible. Plus the weather last month (and recently) was disappointing.

We loved the Hotel San Sont Jordi, we love Pollensa town and PP - so does anyone have a recommendation for us for similar stuff? 4* plus please.

Many thanks

Nicky;)

This subject is perfect for the Tapas Bar... we discuss other places to go and give recommendations if we've been somewhere...

Strictly speaking this section of the forum is for the Pollensa area only!

Everyone who has contributed to this thread is welcome to join us in the Tapas Bar and carry on the discussion there!

Jane;)
