After about 2 years of lurking, I have registered at last! Been to PP at least 7 or 8 times in the last few years and am returning in 5 weeks time. Can't wait to visit Simbad, Tots, Tolos etc.
One question I need to ask. I would like to open a bank account in PP, so that I can transfer money to our apartments owner. Anyone done this before and can recommend one?

Hi there & welcome.

Are you saying that you wish to open an account in order to pay for accommodation? If you are only using it occasionally I'd be very wary as Spanish banks appear to charge you for everything. No free banking as in the UK.

Most have an annual charge, charge you for receiving transfers & cheques & when you make a transfer you have to decide who covers the transfer charge - sender or recipient.

Hi Rockyrobin and welcome! So glad that you've decided to register!

When you say you need to open a bank account - is it to pay for accommodation? We booked a villa a couple of years ago and just transferred the money to the owner's bank account - the bank gave us the forms and we just filled it in. There are normally charges involved though so be aware of those.

When I worked for a wine merchant I used to do it all the time as he imported wine from Spain and France. It's quite straightforward.

Does this help?

Jane

Welcome Rockyrobin!

I have paid for accomodation booked direct with the owner by credit card. I completed a form that was faxed to him. Paying by CC gives you protection if something goes wrong...
