Default Cash machines or travellers cheques?

Hi everyone
Going to PP for first time in aug.(YIPPEE ). and would like to hear your advice on the various ways of taking money. Do i take euros, travellers cheques, visa or use the cash machines.
Talking of cash machines, are there many about (any near the gommar district, south of the marina, where we are staying?) and are they in english?

We used cash machines exclusively. There are loads around. Now getting the statements (we were there 2 to 23 July) it apears the Telebanco machines (blue signs, all over the place) didn't charge, some have appeared with a £1.50 fee, presumably the same as our Link scheme (or not).
the trick, of course, is not losing your card!
We also used credit cards for bigger restaurants and petrol and that worked well, had been warned we'd need our passports but were never asked for them (just as well as they were locked up in the safe!)
It was our first time there, have put lots of info in on our impressions all the way through this very excellent website.
Have a great time!

Default cash machines

hi there
for years we used travellers cheques
but recently discovered cash machines and use them and our visa for everything
our bank charges 3.75% per transaction which is a bit costly but we tend to lift the maximun at a time usually about 430 euros
my son took travellers cheques to Magalluf a few weeks ago and i was glad that he did as his room was burgled
Thomas Cook had the cash out to him next day
hope this helps
have a great time

Just a warning to you all that there is a scam currently becoming more prevalent in holiday destinations in that some restaurants/ other outlets convert at an exorbitant rate of exchange and you sign your credit card off in sterling rather than in Euros and then wait for the credit card finance co to convert. Just beware.

I did hear that one of the more frequented restaurants in PP were doing this but had no personal experience of it. Need to be wary of the old libel laws though.

Smiddy, Got over last week yet ?

If taking cash check the amount you are insured for on your travel insurance: we were burgled once on the Costa Brava and had taken lots of cash for the start of the holiday and only got back £200 a head or something similar.
I found the convenience of using the Telebanco was great, perhaps take some travellers cheques (keep receipt for no commission return) for emergencies, take your max amount of cash and hit those machines for any more beer vouchers!
