Default New Years Eve

Firstly Happy Christmas to one and all. We are lucky enough to be in Puerto Pollensa with friends for New Years Eve, we have been before for New Year and found the Port to be very quiet as you would expect.
So we intend to spend the evening in Old Town Pollensa.
Have any of you experiances/suggestions/ideas of what might be happening or where to go for the big night.
There will be 4 adults, one 16 year old and children from 13 to 5 (all well behaved and house trained).
Hopefully somebody will have some thoughts.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year yourselves.

We were in Pollensa Old Town last New Year's Eve. We went to La Font de Gaul for a dinner. Atmosphere was good, but the food was disappointing. However at midnight we went to the main square and it was buzzing. There was a stage a band, fireworks and lots of people celebrating in a very pleasant manner. People were drinking but everyone was well controlled. It was fairly cold so a coat is needed. There is a lovely little bar near the Calvary steps, opposite the Town Hall. I think they should be open. It is nice and cosy. Not sure about the other restuarants. Some open only for that night only, but a booking would be needed.

I am sure that you are aware of the tradition of swallowing a grape on every stroke of the clock. Don't use ordinary grapes as Spanish ones normally have seeds. You can buy a small tin from the supermarkets which contain 12 seedless grapes specially for the occasion.

We celebrated there, then went home and celebrated an hour later for the English New Year. 2 for the price of one!

Have fun!
Roy

Merry Christmas and thanks for your reply Roy, it sounds as if Old Town Pollenca is the place to be then. We'll give it a go and report back, again many thanks and have a happy NewYear.

I am sure that you will have a great time. This is the first year we have stayed in the UK for New Year for ages, so we will drink to your health.

We will be out shortly afterwards though - can't keep us away.

Merry Christmas.
Roy
