Default Shops open Easter Monday???

Do any of you guys know if next Monday ( Easter Monday) is a fiesta day?

Bonyladette wants some serious retail therapy in Palma over the weekend and I prefer to keep away on Saturday so Monday suits best.

Thanks

BonysLad ( after one hour in Cort Anglaise !!!!!)

Default easter monday

Easter Monday is not a holiday in Mallorca, shops should be open as normal. They will be closed on Thursday and Friday (13th and 14th), when I worked in Palma, Maundy Thursday, being the holiest day of the year, was the only day I was guaranteed the day off. There may be the odd place that makes a long weekend of it, and certainly Palma has lots more Easter processions than anywhere else, but I don't remember mass closures for a whole week as Snowy said

Its fiesta in Puerto Pollensa on Thurday and Friday and then back to normal on Monday (most supermarkets are opening on Thursday morning). It is also a fiesta in Palma on Monday so not likely that the shops will be open then. Q

Thanks all,

But a bit confused by responses.

Snowy ,

What do I owe you? Have I missed something ?
I did ask you once if you were a Hornets fan ??? Has that cost me???

Ann,

Why is Maundy Thursday holier than Good Friday which I thought throughout the christian world was the most sacred?

Miriam,

Thanks and yes have been in there. Not quite like "Hooters" which the best shopping malls in the States have. Bar with continuous screening of football/baseball , great beer all served by "playmates of the month" in silk vests and boxer shorts. Not that I've been in for long as I usually grab a cab to the nearest museum or local archive to prove I'm above such shallow encouragement of consumerism !!!!!

Having looked at the weather forecast ( wet predicted for Saturday) looks like El Corte Anglais for me then.

Will post a new thread on return on a wet Saturday in Palma.

Thanks for all your help

BonysLad

Default easter

Sorry Bonyslad it's Easter Sunday that's the holiest day in the Christian calendar according to religious sources, but the Thursday before, called Holy Thursday, is widely revered in Catholic countries, Last Supper and all that, priests wash people's feet apparently
Didn't know monday was a Palma holiday though, that explains why the Pollensa-printed calendars I've got have not got it marked in red, but the one printed in Inca, has
