Cash point machines
Have just returned from 2 fantastic weeks in PP, only to find that at least 2 of our party have been hit by a cashpoint machine scam. We believe that the cash point concerned is the one on the sea front just pass the turning down to Trotters - be warned !!
If the machine seems to take a long time taking your card do not use it, there is something in the machine that will copy your details. |

CASH POINT MACHINES
Hi Jonnybob
Sorry can't remember which back the machine belonged to, but there are plenty of machines around town. Along Formentora road towards the square and along the main road towards Pollensa. But who ever is doing this could be tampering with them all, so be careful. If the machine is a long time taking your card don't use it !! Happy holidays |
Re: CASH POINT MACHINES
Tony,
Thanks for the warning. This sound very disconcerting. Has this been reported to the local police. |
CASH POINT MACHINES
Hello Pollensa
We did not report it to local police as we only discovered the fraud on our return to England. |
Re: CASH POINT MACHINES
Have now done a bit of finding about cashpoint fraud - see www.cardwatch.org.uk/default.asp?sectionid=3&pageid=97 & I'm not sure that the machine itself would take any longer to process your card as the 'skimming' happens as you feed your card in. There will be a device fitted over the slot 9to copy your card details) plus a camera above to watch you type in your pin. Did you notice any of this?
Anyway for everyone there is plenty of info here www.cardwatch.org.uk |
