Default thank you

thanks for all the information you have provided us with over the last few years, we have really enjoyed reading all of your opinions.
we usually travel to PP in apr/may and again oct,but nowour son is attending school we are restricted to school holidays [northern ireland].
just wondering if the first 2 weeks in july are very busy? as we can normally wander into any restaurant and have no trouble at all finding a table and the beach opposite where we stay is very quiet.[la goleta hotel area]
we would be grateful for any comment
thanking you in advance.

Well it comes to us all

We too spend 4 great years coming to PP in mid May or mid September

Then school hols "hit us" ............. but we were lucky, the primary schools near us have 2 weeks at end May / early June ............ we then had 7 years where it was busier . but not that busy ..... and of course PP changed over ths time and got a bit busier each year

Then grammar school "hit us" , only 1 week at end May, so last year for the first time ever we came in July ( last 2 weeks ) ............. the up side was it was fiesta week , fantastic atmosphere and brilliant fireworks ............ the downside was that it was definitely busier.

So we sort of worked our way up to the crowded times , though we also loved it when we came in October half term and it was like the good old days

But was it bearable in July .............. you bet it was, we are here again in July this year.

I would also say that it got busier as we went towards the end of July, so I suspect you will be fine in the earlier part of July as very few of the English schools finish until 12th July and several don't finish until 20 something July

Word of warning .......... MAKE SURE YOU GET AIR CON ..... we didn't and had to go and hire portable units as it was impossible to sleep without them

quite agree. The biggest issue about coming in July are not the crowds but the heat....

Default school hols and PP

Hi All,
I know I'm a bit late in replying but my wife and I always go to PP in August because she is a teacher and we are restricted to the school hols. But I can honestly say that the 'crowds' in PP have never been a problem. The beach is never too crowded, the eating places are never too full. I mean, it's not Benidorm is it? The only problem, and it's a problem I can very happily live with, is the heat. I just love the place. We've been going there for the last 6 years and if we could afford it we'd move there tomorrow.
I know we could go at Easter and the October school breaks when it is cooler but we always go somewhere else then, because we like to save our MAIN holiday for PP.
But air-con if a must for August in PP.
In fact, I should imagine that whatever time of year you go, it's still magic!
PS. I'm contradicting myself here, but what's it like in early spring? I'm thinking of going on a birdwatching trip. Any interesting birds to be seen then?
Tony

Not too much of a birdwatcher myself, although I have been known to take binoculars out with me occasionally. But I understand Mallorca is THE place for birdwatching and there are a number of books available covering the subject.

Having just come back from a trip end Feb-beg March, I can say that even early spring is lovely. We did have wonderful weather but it's now stormy so you never know with the weather but I should think April is lovely.

Now we have 2 boys at Uni, we are finally avoiding Jul-Aug & are visiting Mar, May, end Jun & probably Sep. April would be nice but as the boys will be home, we thought we'd give that a miss this year.

So Yes do visit early in the year - we think it is probably even nicer then than Sep/Oct - everything is so green & the light is lovely.

thanks everyone, we have decided to take the plunge and make our first july visit to PP, but for one week only. i love the sun ,but being a bit of a ginger nut means it is not so kind to me. So out with the factor 40 and i can now begin to count the days to staying once again in the finest place on earth. Tanya

Hi -We stay in the same area and normaly visit either 2nd/3rd week or last 2 weeks of july..the beach is not very crowded even at that time of year and there is never a real problem getting a table in la goleta or most other reataurants lunch time...evenings of course can be busier . it can be very hot and sometimes humid but its lovely to leave the beach for a while and go back late afternoon and stay there until late.....I'm not counting but only 18 weeks to go !!
