Pollensa area

Hi We have been to Majorca a few times before and have always stayed in the Alcudia/Playa De Muro area. Next year we are looking to rent an apartment and are thinking of Pollensa. Please can anyone tell me which is the best area for us to stay in - we have 2 children who are 9 & 10. We would like an area that has plenty of bars/restaurants and is family friendly. Also, the beach looks quite narrow - is this right? Is the sea shallow for a long way out like in Alcudia? I know this is a bit vague but we just want some informaiton before we make our final decision. Many thanks in advance.

Hi there

I am a travel in agent in northern ireland i travel to pto pollensa every year.

The sea would be shallow enough for about two three mts out but not like alcudia I would say the beach is nicer in pto pollensa but maybe im biased haha...

Apartments i would reccomend for children:

The Flora: 2 min walk to beach square shops bars and restaurants.. 3 * ideal...

Playamar: set back from beach/pine walk central to shops bars and restaurants about 10 min walk

Puerto Azul: Beside flora excellent for children superb entertainment programme

Club del Sol: about 2km outside town centre but good value 4*

Anything at all you need or any questions please give me a wee shout...

thanks

Rachel

Hi swoody!

The beach at the Pine Walk end of the Port is quite narrow but very nice. The south sandy beach at the other end is wide, clean and never too crowded even in July /August ...lovely 8)

Hi
Thanks for that Debs. So if I was to go for the south end - what area would I need to be looking for accommodation please?

Thanks

Sorry, also if I was to go to the south end and get some accommodation there - are there still bars and restaurants there? If not, how long would it take to walk from the pine walk end to the south end!!!

Many thanks

There are lots of apartments and hotels in the south beach area ..have a look in the margin on the left for hotels /aparthotels or villas/aparts, then choose the location your interested in.

There are loads of bars, restaurants and shops along the entire front and only about a 10/15 minute walk from the south beach to Pine Walk.

Hi there,

to get an idea where the hotels & aparthotels are, go www.puertopollensa.com/hotels_apartments_pollensa.html & move down to the beginning of the section entitled Puerto Pollensa - Hotels - just below the title is a link to a map showing all the locations.

If you are interested in renting a private apartment, go to puertopollensa.com/rentals/ & search on properties in the 'South, Sandy beach' area if that's the place that interests you most. The beach in this area is wider but do be aware that there is a road to cross between the hotels etc. & the beach whereas north of the Marina & along the Pine Walk is pedestrianised.
