Default What are the best travel cards to use

We usually take cash on holiday but wondered what are the best travel cards to use and are they accepted everywhere.

Thanks

Most people I know (inc me) use Revolut, which you can exchange sterling FOC at a rate close to the spot rate. So the thing to do is load some sterling on it and keep and eye on exchange rates and swap for euro's when you like the look of the rate.

and yes....its a visa card, so accepted everywhere and you can withdraw cash too.

With you on that. Revolut every time. Withdraw cash at any Banco March machine in Spain and its commission free. You can either exchange to Euro or leave as Pounds and it does the conversion at time of payment (exchange at weekends though otherwise they take 0.5% off).

The locals prefer cash,we found many of the shops in Soller don’t take cards.

We would like to use the buses this year rather than hire a car- where is the bus station in PP now? Has anyone travelled to Soller by bus- I'm wondering where we find the bus to return to PP. I have the timetable but details of the bus stops are confusing!

Google is your friend.

PP bus station is here

Soller bus station is here... but...

Tib Map for the 231 bus is here and you can zoom in and see that the bus only goes around the roundabout at the top of the street and then potters down to Port Soller. It doesn't go to Soller bus station.

And Port de Soller Bus Station is here...

10:35 from PP to 12:20 in PS

18:40 from PS to 20.25 in PP

So up to 6 hours 20 poss in Port de Soller... but 3.5 hours on the bus... it's a bit of a mission. I've only used the 231 to go from Pollenca to Lluc and then hike back.

If I really wanted to go to Port de Soller, I'd get the early bus to Palma and get back to Soller on the Tren

https://trendesoller.com/horarios

Palma bus is 1hr 10 and the Tren in an hour... but it's an experience...

Good info there Bobley.

By early I presume you mean the 7:45 bus to Palma which arrives something past 09:00.

The queue for the train can sometimes be enormous, so best to get there early to bag a good seat on the train. If my memory serves me correctly, the train and tram tickets are not what one would call cheap.

The return to PP by bus is great, best to sit on the drivers side of the bus, so an earlyish arrival at the bus station is advisable.

I see what you mean about the Soller bus station not actually being a 'stop' for 231.As long as I can find the correct bus stop I was planning to get the 14.53 back to PP. I would use the train into Palma as a back up if I fail to get the bus.
We visited Soller years ago when I was happy driving there so just a refresher really. Once again you have all been so helpful Thank you.

Well we did the bus trip to Soller and it worked perfectly. The 231 at 10.35 got us there for 12.05 and we caught the 16.05 back arriving in PP at 18.00. And exactly as you suggested Bobley the bus picked us up at same stop we were dropped at. About a 15 minute walk to centre of Soller. Very like PP Bus station to seafront. We filled the time easily and being a sunny day the scenery was fantastic. I recommend it to anyone who is thinking of trying it.
