Feeling optimistic

Just booked a sneaky 4 night break in July! I was one of the lucky ones who managed a July holiday last year without needing to quarantine ( missed it by 2 days). I’m feeling optimistic.

I'll be interested to know how that works out should holidays go ahead this year. Within 20 minutes of going round a supermaket over in england with a mask on, the sweat is pouring off of me.

I could not imagine laying on a beach in 30+ with one on and even more ludicrous going swimming in one. However, looking at the new law spain intends to bring in, that will be the case.

I agree quite a ludicrous thing to bring in, I for one won't be coming out this year with these laws as I suffer with COPD and breathing with a mask on in that heat is not viable.

I’m staying in a villa so it’s not a concern.

roig cat 31-03-2021 10:06

I also work as a midwife on a hot labour ward. I’m used to masks, I just need a break.

Its Only Until End Of May

at least that is what I have read . And as UK citizens cannot fly out at least until 17 May (guessing that will be put back) should not be a problem.

My issue is why on earth was it decided that this new procedure was necessary as you are out in the fresh air ???

If only my noble lord !
The way things are going, the only way I'll be seeing that again is if dear nursey pushes me along in my bath chair and lifts the glass up for me.:D

Certain that wont be the case by the time holidays start

We were in Lanzarote for Christmas and didnt find wearing a mask for walking around outside a problem and we are used to it indoors now We had a Villa so never went to the beach We had PCR tests before we went and quarantine on return

Wouldnt be happy with wearing one on the beach and PP is our favourite beach so wouldnt really be worth out while coming there

So hoping things change for the better in time for the main summer holidays

The Balearics have announced that it is not necessary to wear a mask on the beach or at swimming pools. This is a National Law but the Autonomous regions have objected.

kazzergardner 01-04-2021 09:37

Yes the mask issue on the beach is no longer a problem I believe, which is good news.

Deanscroft 01-04-2021 13:17

Its not quite that simple. The clarification is that masks need not be worn on the beach and around a swimming pool as long as all over requirements are adhered to. As it is already obvious in the last few days that the tourists arriving for easter have no intention of complying with the regulations then I would not be supprised to see the masks on beaches / around pools reintroduced very soon.

Tangoman 01-04-2021 14:12

I too am optimistic, but cautious also.

To that end I would like to just enquire if anyone, (probably Sparky), can confirm that The Miramar Hotel has indeed re-opened today, as announced last August? If it has, then I would feel more confident that my booking for later this year will go ahead.

Any news will be welcomed.
