Sea Plane/Flying Boats

I'm not sure we ever decided what to call them, so i've titled the thread with both.

Is it my imagination, or did i spot a new one today?

Sounded noisier, flew faster and seemed to be painted slightly differently, a bit more yellow i think.

Anyone got any proper info?

C

There's an article here about them getting new sea planes in the future, but I wonder If you have seen one of the Bombardier 415 that they have in their fleet?

It is the same type of plane, however when I was at the open day a couple of weeks ago my friend who knows a lot about the planes said the one that was on display had not been here before.

Could someone Get some paint from the base and repaint the rusty one on the Roundabout.
in a few years it will crash because of the RUST.

Spain's Air Safety Agency has given permission for civilian seaplanes to land in Pollensa Bay. The president of the Majorca Aeronautical Foundation, Miquel Buades, says that a report received from the agency on Monday states that a maximum of fifty seaplanes per annum will be able to land. Agreement has also been obtained from the air force base.

For Buades, this was "great news". With the permission, Majorca will be pioneering in having the first port in Spain where civilian seaplanes can land. The foundation has proposed that Puerto Pollensa be a centre for pilot training, so this can now happen. ...

...

The report stresses that seaplanes are not for commercial flights. There had been a proposal for a seaplane service to link Pollensa with Formentera.

Seaplane use in Pollensa Bay is currently confined to firefighting planes and to the Splash-In event, for which special permission has been required.

I was surprised to see it land yesterday afternoon and doing circuit and bumps this morning. I thought that they normally arrived around easter.

There were a couple of small fires over the christmas period in Pollenca and Soller. Maybe they sent it for a service early and have got it back ready just in case.

The sea planes have been flying in and out for hours today. Don't know if it's a training exercise or if there is a fire somewhere :confused:.

I follow the Delfin team on Instagram and asked them. Nothing to worry about, its definitely just training 👍
