Default 'Start Of The Season' moments.

We all must have our own 'Start Of The Season' moments. For me, the air-side Burger King re-opening at Palma airport is one!

What are the others?

Have just watched two 'firefighting' seaplanes return to the Port - a sure sign of the start of the season.

Me too! Always disappointed if they’re not there. Yet another unique feature of our favourite place.

A friend tells me that Air Forces Monthly magazine (21st March) has an article on the PP flying boats.

Sparky,
I believe they are actually flying boats although most people call them sea planes and what the difference is between a flying boat and a sea plane is I have no idea.

I am not doubting it at all, it's just that i haven't heard it in relation to the Canadair aircraft .

I do know that there was a squadron of Sunderlands based in Plymouth during the war and they were known as flying boats, way before my time of course .

The arrival of the cyclists en masse! (Please note I absolutely DO NOT want to start a debate about whether they are a good thing or not.....) Also, to me the season hasn't really started until the Miramar opens and I can sit on their lovely terrace with a cafe con leche or a large G&T.

a good sign is when you see white vans appearing outside the beachfront restaurants, a sure sign that they have started work to get them ready for opening

Re #8 the old debate of seaplane vs flying-boat; and what's the difference :-)

In summary - seaplanes land on floats; flying-boats land on their hull (as do 'ours' in PP)
