Puertopollensa.com - New Owners

Dear all,

after running the website puertopollensa.com and the forum - admirably helped by Sparky of course - for nearly 18 years, I have now sold my company Holiday Webs Ltd and the websites to Russ and his wife Toni. They will introduce themselves shortly.

It's been a great business and I still visit PP regularly and will remain a member of the forum - it's very useful! - but it is time to move on.

All the very best and thank you all for supporting puertopollensa.com for so many years!

Zelda :):):)

Thanks for setting up this wonderful site and best wishes for the future.

Zelda,

Thank you so much for your efforts over the years. You should be very proud of what you have achieved. I wish you all the best for the future.

Jim

Thank you Zelda for setting all this up in the first place and for running it so well for so long and best wishes for the future:)x

PollensaRuss 01-03-2019 21:59

Hi Everyone,

I'm Russ and my wife and I are thrilled to be the new owners of Puertopollensa.com and very much look forward to engaging with you all and hopefully continuing the great work Zelda has done over the past 18 years.

Our love of Puerto Pollensa started a few years ago when I proposed to Toni by a tree (we call it the crocodile tree) on Pinewalk. Since then we have visited many times with both friends and family and have loved every second.

Last June we were lucky enough to get married in the church in the square which was an amazing experience and then in December, after looking for a couple of years we finally bought a house just off Pine walk - with the long term goal of moving out permanently with our 7 year old daughter Lily and making a life for ourselves in Mallorca.

For us, buying the website made perfect sense as it is a subject that we are passionate about and we thought it would be a great way to meet new people when we make the move.

Plans wise, it is still very early days - but we hope that mostly the forum will stay the same and continue to be a great place for everyone to visit. Please bear with us as we are new and will no doubt make mistakes but we will try to take advice where possible and listen to your suggestions.

It's a big step for us and will be an adventure but we are definitely looking forward to the challenge!

If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask - we'd love to get to know you all.

Finally, can I say a big thank you for Zelda for choosing us to take over and for all the work she has put in into preparing the sale. We both really appreciate it.

Thanks for reading and our very best regards

Russ and Toni

There's no need to make excuses my dear Zelda. There were easier ways to be rid of me other than selling up.

You could have just banned me or asked me to stop posting.:)

On a serious note (yes I can be on occasions). Thanks for setting up what turned into a Family for want of a better description. (including arguments:rolleyes:)

Can't even begin to calculate the thousands of hours this site must have saved people in obtaining answers to all sorts of problems.

All the best wishes for you as you go forward.

debz1 02-03-2019 13:03

Wishing you all the best for the future Zelda and thank you for all your efforts over the years :)

Disorderly 02-03-2019 15:27

Very best wishes, Zelda and thanks (to you and Lyn) for creating and developing such a useful and happy site. Welcome Russ and Toni.....I’m sure you’ll find lots of support from the Forum members if, as you say, things continue mostly unchanged. Wishing you an enjoyable challenge.

Lorenzo 02-03-2019 16:57

Yes, thanks very much to Zelda for creating such a wonderful website - and to Lyn for all of her help too.
And welcome to Russ and Toni in their new adventure!

copper 02-03-2019 20:06

Yes Thank you so much for all you did and to Sparky as well of course

We love PP and this site has definately improved our visits

I wish the new owners every success with their new venture and many happy holidays

KWUK2 03-03-2019 00:18

Thanks and best wishes to you Zelda. What you've created and enhanced over the past 18 years is superb. Many thanks also to Sparky.

Russ & Toni, you've got a very hard act to follow. But I'm sure your new venture will continue the success that's already been achieved. Very best wishes to you both.

Rockape 04-03-2019 10:35

Welcome Russ & Toni!

mike_dublin 04-03-2019 15:03

@ Zelda
Thank you for all the work creating and maintaining this brilliant site and the forum. All the very best for your future.

@ Russ and Toni
The very best of luck on your new ventures with the website and indeed the forum, as well as with your term goal of settling in Mallorca.

lollipop 04-03-2019 15:27

Best Wishes for the future Zelda and good luck to Russ and Toni as they take on this new venture.

Gp1602 04-03-2019 20:29

Must be quite sad passing on the baton for you so I wish you every happiness in your new adventures in life. I look forward to hearing more from Russ and Toni:)

PPToni 05-03-2019 13:13

Thank you everyone for giving us such a warm welcome.
Zelda's boots are going to be big boots to fill, but we look forward to trying:)
It would be great to learn a bit about you all - who has made the permanent move to PP? Who just spends as much time as they possibly can there? Excited to get to know you. It looks like this is a lovely community.
Toni

Sparky 05-03-2019 13:28

I hope the two of you are finding your way around the website, i moved here in December 2008 and started doing the daily weather reports in 2009 then became a moderator the following year.

I hope you are successful in all your plans and am sure you will be, if i can help in any way please let me know. I will miss Zelda but look forward to working with if you want me to carry on ;).

lollipop 05-03-2019 14:25

We made the move to live here in November 2007. We have no regrets and have enjoyed becoming part of the local community both English and Mallorcan.

Disorderly 05-03-2019 19:20

We have been coming to PP since 1994 and were lucky enough to buy an apartment here last year. We now spend at least one week a month in the Port, with our sons also using the apartment regularly. This Forum has been a huge help over the years, not the least as offering invaluable advice while we were looking for, and buying, our property. Like many, many Forum members, we would be EXTREMELY disappointed if Sparky didn’t continue as moderator and provider of daily weather reports. Long may this excellent Forum continue to thrive.

Thanks Sparky - we are finding our feet, slowly but surely.
It gives us peace of mind knowing that you are around if we need you and I am sure we will be asking for your advice sooner rather than later.
As long as you are happy to continue moderating, we would absolutely love you to carry on :)

11 years of bliss in a wonderful place - it doesn't get much better! Can't wait until we do the same :)
The weather looks beautiful over there today (checked on the webcams), whereas I walked the dog in the pouring rain this morning!!

How exciting! So after all those years of holidaying there, you can now go there as and when you want to, that's fantastic.
The forum, and website in general, is a great resource for anybody living or planning to visit Puerto Pollensa. I know that many of our family and friends used it when planning their trip over last year. We just want it to continue to be the success that Zelda made it.

Ps: We have no intention of letting Sparky go anywhere - not unless she wants to :D

Glad that's sorted then! :)

Disorderly 06-03-2019 18:41

Horrah to that!

scotslizzy 07-03-2019 09:03

Three cheers for Sparky and new owners

The forum would not be the same without Sparky. We can all check out the weather forecast easily on our own but just not the same without the "Sparky" factor .

Been coming to PP for over 30 years now and cannot imagine a year without our PP fix.

All the best in your new venture.

Scotslizzy

Catwoman 08-03-2019 16:49

Zelda I would also like to add my thanks and best wishes to you. Over the years I have found invaluable information and if I encountered a problem someone always had the answer. I love keeping up to date with the news, opening/closings/recommendations of restaurants from here until I next return. A wonderful idea, long may it continue.

jaimethelad 09-03-2019 12:24

Hola Russ & Tony!
Me & my partner Olga have owned apartment in Llenaire for just over a year & love the place. We get out as much as possible with our 4 year old son, friends & family.

We'll be sure to give you a shout though👍

The end of an era - and the start of a new one! - great news, hopefully exciting times lie ahead, and huge thanks to everyone who was involved keeping the 'old' forum going for so long. We would certainly massively miss Sparky if she wasn't involved! - not only for her fantastic weather reports, but her great knowledge of the area. Our story: we came to Pollensa first in 1995 when we stayed in a finca, absolutely fell in love with it and have returned at least twice a year ever since. In 2001 we were lucky enough to be able to buy a little finca of our own - very similar to the one we stayed in on our first visit - it's mostly rented out, as otherwise we wouldn't be able to afford the upkeep! - but we feel privileged to be able to stay there a couple of weeks a year! As our daughters are now grown up and prefer the town life, we're currently in the process of refurbishing a town house in the Old Town, which will become our base for future holidays and also hopefully our permanent home in two or three years. I am counting the days......

Toni

I first came here way back in the late 60s with my parents and sister. My father had been taking us on holidays around the med for quite a few years but PP was the place he and my mother fell in love with and so they bought our apartment in Gommar in the late 70s. Sadly I am now the only one left and decided to make the permanent move here just over a year ago with very little money and no work but hopefully more prospects than the UK and trying to get settled before Brexit.

It has been tough! trying to build a business again from scratch, and health scares along the way, but it looks like things are starting to come together and I will be able to start enjoying life in a beautiful place - not just PP but the whole of the jewel in the med.:)

car77 22-03-2019 16:27

GG - I loved some of the old family photos you have posted in the past. Many reminded me of our early family visits. We first went in 1975. We stayed at the Bahia with a variety of other guests of many nationalities and everyone mixed and socialised every night. Had a huge party on the beach on our last night and enjoyed throwing Francisco the waiter into the sea! It was fantastic! We first discovered the Coral bar that visit too where they had just 2 tables out the front and Mama and Papa were running it. Been back to PP every year since and we have had an apartment for 12 years or so now.
Good luck with your future business and enjoy :)

Good luck to you sir. Anyone showing a bottle of " Rosado" next to their site name will do for me.:D
