Default Fuming!

Is there anything left to burn on the island?

Thankfully the breeze has been from the east for the past few days but inland, the smoke from burning rubbish is enough to make your eyes water.

On Saturday, there were so many fires burning, the view from Victoria was like some kind of apocalyptic volcanic scene.

It reminds me of when stubble burning was still allowed in the UK.

That's a bit rash, It's much easier to use a razor and a lot less painful.

There are only two periods a year when you can burn rubbish, garden rubbish etc.

Better now than August !!!.

I thought the only restrictions were due to wildfire risk rather than pollution.

When can't rubbish be burnt?

Each area has their own regulations so perhaps you could ask at the council office if you are still here or here is the link to the website contact info :- Formulari de contacte | El web oficial de l'Ajuntament de Pollença.

I'm pretty sure that burning rubbish on my apartment balcony isn't a good idea at any time of year.

It was a serious question because I was intrigued; I've never noticed a time of year when there wasn't a fire or two burning near the town at dawn, even in the middle of summer.

Perhaps I need to appreciate it as a local custom.

February has always been Bonfire month on the Island!

It doesn't bother me, in fact I quite like it. It's a sign that Spring is just round the corner

It was in the workshop behind the kitchen/flooring shop across the road from Tonik snack bar, thankfully nobody was injured.
