Cat Protection Pollensa

The Cat Protection Pollensa charity was set up to reduce the cat population by the trap, neuter, and return programme. The small team work tirelessly and are always looking for volunteers and donations of food. You can follow the journey of Cat Protection Pollensa on Facebook .

The following is a tragic incident that happened a couple of days ago and highlights the struggle they face

 Urgent notification - read please

We have considered it important to inform you of the problems we face day by day.
Today one of the cats of our feline colony in El Vila has had to be rushed to the veterinarian because it was evident that he suffered a lot of pain.

After the x-Ray Test, it was possible to determine the cause of pain, apparently shot the animal and a balin was still lodged in his chest, see the photos below, please.

It will take about three weeks to recover from the injuries, so we urgently need a volunteer to host the cat during its recovery.

There's another cat wounded in the same colony too, but we haven't managed to capture him yet. We will continue to report on this.

Shooting or poisoning animals, it's an aberration and of course it's illegal.

Please, if you have any knowledge of anyone who is doing something like this, inform the police or us directly.

Thank you very much.

(why hasn't the forum get a sad or angry button)

I wish I wasn't allergic to cats right now... :-(

An update from Cat Protection Pollensa of the poor cat that was shot the other day .....

 SUNDAY UPDATE ON ELLA
We wanted to update you on Ella’s progress.
She is still very sick. She had to have her chest drained again today where the gun shot wound is. She will be having a drain put in tomorrow to allow this to happen more easily. The drain will be in for about three days and will hopefully help her recover.
Sadly, whilst all of this was happening to her she miscarried two kittens she had been pregnant with, only adding to her suffering. We had no idea she was pregnant.
The cats are so vulnerable in so many ways and we try our best to look after them, neuter them and keep them safe. This is such a sad story.
After all of her trauma today, she then started to purr.
We would also like to say a huge thank you to Marcos at Moixica Vets in Puerto Pollensa for all of his help today, since she has been under their care.
If anyone could support us by contributing to her treatment, we would be most grateful.
Thank you

How do we contribute please

As I am not over until Sept (would prefer to hand over money direct) I am presuming any donations are needed now .

Thanks

Scotslizzy

Debz - I shall be in the Port soon, where should donations be made? At the vets? Lisa in Alfresco?

Yes and i think Pension Bellavista as well. And possibly Vall's, Vilacuisines and El Casinet.

Sparky thanks for posting the link

Thank you Marilyn also You can donate directly to Coloma at Bellvista Pension or Louisa at Al Fresco. They also desperately need cat food. Any donation would be gratefully received.
Thank you again

Below is the post copied from their Facebook page Cat Protection Pollensa

CAT FOOD NEEDED!
Quote:

Cat Protection Pollensa has a small team of volunteers who between them feed the hundreds of cats in colonies in and around Pollensa. They pay for all the food and medical care themselves as we try to get established as an Association and gain support.
We are in need of food for our cats. The girls are stretched, and we really need the help of our supporters!
We would be so grateful for any cat food donations sent either through the websites below, or delivered directly to:
Bellavista Hotel
Carter de les Monges, 14
Puerto Pollensa, Majorca

If you could donate £20 worth of dry food it would feed about 80 - 100 cats for a day.
Lidl own brand Coshida biscuits
Mercadona own brand biscuits €7.50 for 7kg

Please please help us to provide food for the cats that have come to rely on us to keep them alive. Thank you
