I just loved them putting the lights up in the square - they were " wheeling " a guy around on a high ladder/ platform Heath and safety would have a heart attack at home

I have been wondering why the lights have not been switched on yet and got an explanation this morning. This is a translation from the DDM :-

Quote:
Tots criticizes that have paralyzed the Christmas lights for "lack of consensus".

The main opposition group, Tots per Pollenša, yesterday criticized the Councillor for Commerce, Iliana Capllonch, for ordering paralyze the installation of the Christmas lights "lack of consensus" and regretted that the de Pollenša "is the only municipality north of the island that does not have Christmas lights on, as befits this time of year, "so that" we are being ridiculous. "

As explained by the group's spokesman, Tomeu Cifre, the councilwoman "pledged to reach an agreement with merchants, but lack of consensus decided, a fortnight ago, stop the installation of the Christmas lights for lack of participation."

Apparently, according to the same political group, yesterday morning came operators to install the lights. "There were seven men and four vans brigade to put four bulbs" criticized the former mayor Cifre.
Original report is here :- Tots critica que se hayan paralizado las luces de Navidad por "falta de consenso" - Diario de Mallorca.

It's like the beds n brollies all over again But 7 men and 4 vans to put up 4 bulbs - I am now totally befuddled Did they actually install the 4 light bulbs? Or have they gone away again to discuss the logistics? Will a decision be made by 1 January? It would be joke if it wasnt so pathetic - PP being the only town in Mallorca without lights - like the little boy that Santa Claus forgot

Yes i agree Rosie but this is a newspaper report and it's the opposition party that gave the info so there could be more to it, only time will tell .

Sparky is right to advise caution till the full facts emerge - perhaps in February

This sort of local government malaise is not confined to PP. Almost identical problems are common here in the back woods of East Lancashire.

PP of course has the advantage of being PP. I'm sure many of us would prefer to be visiting PP without Christmas lights, than stopping home in the rain, maybe snow, cold etc with festive lights.

I'm not bothered who is responsible it's all the in fighting between the relevant parties, factions, departments etc. It's madness that such simple things don't get done. But then that's the Spanish for you.

Helpful, relevant?
That's Malaga, a big city, not PP.
No comparison....
