Building Works - Winter 2015/16

Building work has commenced on the old El Ancla site. There was a digger excavating the site yesterday. Didn't realise just how far the area goes back, it's vast!

We were surprised too at how big it is ..I wonder how long this project will take 😉

Don't shoot the messenger, but according to the chap in charge, it will be done for the 2017 season

Quite possible, look at La Goleta!

CathB 09-11-2015 17:53

They started on La Goleta ( well stripping the inside) around Jan 2014 so work there took around 16 -17 months and that was not a complete rebuild..it would be interesting to see how long this will take 😉

No simple rebuild this. Their first job will be to install an underground car park before they can start on the above ground stuff.

Undergroun

As you comment the underground car park.
Hope the builders install great pumps.....
In Winter it will be an underground Swimming pool .
Opposite the apartment we rent in Pinnaret the underground car park often
floods and that's only rain water Not The Sea.
As they say it's all down to the planning.
.

If the power goes off the best pumps in the world will be useless, i certainly wouldn't risk leaving a car in there during bad weather :eek:.

With a bit of forward thinking they could make it a money spinner. Install a good water heating system at the same time, then when it floods you can advertise drive in Sauna/Steam baths. Simples !! :D

Work progressing on what I assume is the retaining wall, looks very tall to me!!

sws97sdg 25-11-2015 09:49

Looking at the webpage of the apartments again, the wall will run along the whole of the plot, both sides, at that height, that will spoil the view from the villa next door! Lots of work today with heavy cranes delivering beams yesterday

Oh no the webcam is filthy and I cant see the building site

Just had a look at the FB page and the 3D illustrations are really good - but there are also some stunning aerial shots of the port and the seaplane and helicopter displays:)

Work is progressing on the new apartments where el Ancla was, just posted 60 pictures on FB, they should be out of the ground soon, great shots of the framework and reinforcement work, well if you like construction that is. You get a sense of how big its going to be!!!
