Advice on cash cards
Does anyone know of a cash card that can be topped up from the UK while the card is in PP? I want to use one to make payments to someone whereby they can just withdraw cash from a cash machine.

Just been looking at the Post Office travel card, looks like you can top up online or via sms.

I think you can top up the Thomas Cook one online too

FairFX too ...... been using that method for a few years now.

(FairFX have a fixed fee 1.5 Euro per cash withdrawal - that is not far off a Coffee and I prefer a Coffee in the port than paying card Fees :) ) A few to look at are: Monarch Euro card Monarch | Travel Money, Currency Cards, Great Exchange Rates | Home Travelex Cash Passport: The Pre Paid Travel Money Card | Travelex Canton FX https://www.caxtonfx.com/currency-cards/ mytravel: Prepaid Travel Cards | Travel Money Card | my Travel Cash There will be many others but that will get you started. Read the terms of any you are applying for so you dont get caught out with anything. |

Thank you all for the info and links - I knew I would get the responses I required:)

I think Caxton is best. No charge for withdrawals from ATMs though the bank itself may charge.
Also sounds obvious but make sure you get the Euro card not the Global card. |
Off a tangent a little, but if you have a Santander 123 account you can use the cash machine in the centre of PP. There are no charges (as long as you do not say you want your receipt in Sterling) and the added bonus is that you get the bank exchange rate, not the tourist one, which is usually a couple of cents better. All adds up over 2 weeks self catering :)

That's good idea but the reason people use prepaid cards is for security.
With a prepaid card the most money you can loose is the amount you loaded onto the card. (unless it can be topped up by SMS and the thief also gets your phone and can unlock it and top the card up as they spend) With a debit card you can loose everything in your bank account if you are very unlucky. |
Thanks all - Caxton seems to be the best option with regsrds to daily withdrawl amounts, number of withdrawls per week and upper limit you can put on the card.
I basically want to be able to put a set amount of money on the card that someone else in the port can draw on. Saves having to take over wads of cash or making loads of international transfers |
