Default Carpets - Strange question time...

This is a very strange question, aimed at all you lucky people who live in and around Puerto Pollensa.

In your apartments/villas/houses, do you have carpet in any rooms or do you go with the Spanish style of tiled floors?

I know it's a strange question, but it's one that I mean to ask every year when we return from our holiday. I'm a bit of a strange sort who doesn't like walking around bare foot unless it's on carpet, and as much as I enjoy our holidays in PP, the one thing I always miss is carpet! I realise that tiles are a lot cooler and certainly a lot easier to clean, but I was saying to Mrs kcdc230 the other day that if we were ever lucky enough to be able to move to PP, we would have to have carpet installed in the bedrooms at the very least. She poo-poo'd the idea and said that in her view, all expats would do the Spanish thing of tiles - hence the question!

It's tiles all around in my apartment. I don't think wall to wall carpets would work out here at all although I keep on saying that I should get some nice rugs to roll out during the winter months!

It's simples, when it gets cold the carpets are rolled out in each room, when it gets hot they are rolled up again at least that it what has always happened in our house.

Definitely rugs rolled out in winter and rolled back up again in summer! You wouldn't have the option to do that with wall to wall carpets!

Agree with all of the above, we too have rugs and i don't think fitted carpets would be good in the summer.

We always take slippers to villas! The free ones you get in hotels. The tiled floors can be cold in the Spring and Autumn.

I think that you would have problems with damp affecting wall to wall carpets.

We just have rugs but you also get used to the cooler tiled floors and slippers are cheap!

I have to say that the carpet in our bedroom is one the things that I hate when I return home! We have wooden floors downstairs but carpet in our bedrooms and I don't like it.

Having said that I think that wood is much nicer for bare feet than cold marble tiles. Our PP apartment is a standard modern one with marble floor tiles & they can feel cold & not much fun in winter. We've thought about buying rugs but we don't visit that often then & wouldn't have anywhere to store them in summer. I do put small towels or bath mats by the bed to soften the blow in the mornings.

So, does anyone in PP have wooden floors? I think that would be really lovely and kinder to my feet.

Have a friend who had wood floors in a Villa in Andrax (cost an arm and a leg to have fitted) and the heat destroyed them waste of money. But I have noticed Leroy Merlin now selling lots of laminate flooring. Tiles are easier to clean and the best option in my opinion.
I bet when KC asked this question he figured he wouldn't get a reply just shows you here in PP we love to share all information lol.

We put laminate flooring down in our lounge and bedroom when we came here to live permanently,as was warmer and a bit quieter. The advice was "not if you live on the ground floor" but as we are on the 5th it wasn't a problem. No problem to clean either.

Thanks to everyone for their replies - all very interesting.

And yes, fil6699, you're right! I thought maybe one or two answers, but as usual, the good people and visitors of PP are all so friendly and helpful!
