Default New member...visiting in June

Hi all,

I just joined up as I was looking for a bit of news on the Port.

I've been coming out to Majorca with family the last few years and my last few trips have been to PP, having fallen in love with the place.
We're back there in June and was wondering what's new since we last visited in summer 2010.
One of our haunts was Pub Imperial, I'm deducing from posts here and information elsewhere that the pub has been sold on to Toni(?)...
And are Nicki and Phil (El Phil) still singing there?
What else has come and gone? Is the little Japanese place just off the square still open (I think it was called Sapporo)? I'm hoping to take my daughter there for her first taste of teppanyaki but I fear it may have closed as it was always very quiet.

Anyways, thanks and hi!

Nick

Hi Nick and welcome to the forum. Yes Toni took over the Imperial, not sure about entertainment this year as i have not been down that way recently.
The Saporro is no longer there but i am told they are now behind Pascalinos in C/Formentor.

Hi sparky,

thanks for the reply and welcome. My mum was surprised to hear Rafa selling up but at least it's in good hands. No surprises about Sapporo, it was always dead but it's a shame as their food was good quality (relevant to Japanese restaurants in general); might see them over in Formentor. What's there in its place? Another new bar or restaurant?

I can confirm also that as Sparky says there is some kind of Japanese restaurant at the rear of Pascalino's. Never used it or one though.

Yes, it would be nice to know what's happening to the old premises.

I believe the old Saporro is owned by the guy who runs Manducca, he has plans to turn it into a tapas bar at some point but at the moment he is using the terrace for Manducca diners .

Strangely the site behind the Pascalino used to be a Japanese restaurant owned by the Pascalino, that too was always quiet, don't know why, i always welcomed a new dining experiance, and it was genuine cuisene. Unlike the "Irish bars" whose links with the old country consist of no more than the odd bit of bric-a-brac stuck to the wall.
