Default Antibiotics from chemist?

Hi all,

Does anyone know if you are still able to buy antibiotics over the counter in the chemist without prescription?

I am coming to PP next week for a fortnight and have come down with an infection in my tooth. The dentist is unable to fit me in for treatment before I go, but has given me a week's worth of amoxicillin and I'm worried that it will flare up again on my holiday.

Thank you.

Default Antibiotics

No, I don't think that most chemists in PP will do this now, without a prescription.
They often used to but the last time a friend tried to buy additional antibiotics in PP, he was firmly told that he had to get a doctor's prescription again.

sadly those days have gone. But if you have a problem you can see a dentist in the Port very easily and they will I am sure give you the prescription you need Ramos is who I would recommend should you need.

On a similar note, I have forgot my BP medication years ago & visited the Dr on the square (so easy!) & he wrote me a prescription but you do have to pay for the visit which conveniently equated to the insurance excess but the tablets were really cheap (much cheaper than the prescription charge in the UK).

If you have an EHIC you can make an appointment at the health centre, you see a doctor who will give you a prescription free of charge but you do have to pay for the drugs at the farmacia. However i am not sure if a doctor can prescribe drugs for dental problems.
whaleywanderer and lollipop like this.

Default IV Antibiotics and Health Centre or the Clinic

Hi All

Need help - my grandaughter is due to travel from UK today, but is currently in A&E awaiting an IV Antibiotic, which may delay her travel.

Does anyone know if she can get an IV Antibiotic from the health centre in PP using her EHIC Card, or will she have to go to the clinic opposite Bonys?

Or even further afield perhaps?

All replies much appreciated at any time of the day,

Thanks.

I think it's possible in the clinic in PP or the PAC in Pollensa but she will need a letter or prescription from the UK .
