Default Prickly Heat

A big thank you to everyone who replied to my posting about avoiding mosquito bites and I will be investing in some of the suggestions before I arrive in PP.

Does anybody know of any preventions/cures for prickly heat please?

Not sure about prickly heat but the other problem you can get (which sometimes gets mistaken for prickly heat) is PLE.Is actually an allergy to the sun.the rash mainly appear on chest/upper torso although I have been known to get spectacular assortment of rashes all over

I have found the best thing is to take antihistamine morning and night - I just take a basic Piriton..also use a sunscreen for sensitive skins/allergy and apply at least half an hour before you go out..you need a minimum of 4 star uva cover..I used to use Piz Buin allergy but that has now been rated 3 star. The last 2 years I have used Boots own make -Soltan (sensitive)..its 5 star cover. It doesnt stop it completely but it certainly makes a huge difference.

Roll on Saturday...I would rather suffer PLE than this awful cold and rain

my wife was told a little secret cure which seems to work for all & cools the annoying effects of Prickly Heat quite quickly...Mycil powder (normall used for athletes foot!)
Works though and she alwats packs a container...

i too suffer badly from ple/prickly heat and have tried everything on the market the most effective sunscreen i have found is a herbal type one i.e. no chemicals in it, dont have the name to hand but if anyone really interested i'm sure her indoors can tell me

a doctor friend of mine has told me that an old treatment used for prickly heat in years gone by was to scrub affected area with a course scrubbing/nail brush

i have tried this only once on my arms when i could not put up with the itching any longer and it certainly worked but was very tender for a day or 2
