Default Local state doctor Name and Opening hours

Can anyone tell me the Name/Address/telephone number and opening hours of
the local state (NHS ??) doctor in Pto.Pollensa. In the past we have gone to
the private doctor in the square and paid £50 to be seen. This is our excess on our insurance policy so therefore cannot be claimed back !! We now have the EHIC cards-do we need to register with the state doctor for a two week holiday for can we turn up with one of these cards and been seen with no charge?

HellO there, it is not necessary to register. Should you have to see a Dr. during your two week stay and you want to use your card, the best thing to do is walk into the surgery and ask for an appointment for non residents. They provide a very good service although for complicated issues I would recommend the private Dr. for speed and confidence in English language. The telephone number is a service centre which covers the whole island (902 079079) but I am not sure if they speak English so I think it is easiest to walk in to the surgery - I think they can only place appointments for people that are registered on their computer system. The PP surgery is positioned almost alongside the public swimming pool in the calle Vicens buades 49. They have mainly morning surgery but during the summer months they often see non residents in the afternoon. Fingers crossed you do not need to use them anyhow - enjoy your holiday - the chemists are an excellent first point of call also.

The state doctors is underneath the police station at the other side of the car park near the swimming pool. I needed an INR test and found them a bit puzzled but there was no problem in getting what I wanted and at no time did they ask for anything although I took my Euro card and passport. They speak pigeon english and were very helpful.Yes go in the mornings and they usualy work on a first come first served basis. Also make a note of the local medical / emergency numbers you canobtain from the talk of the north paper(I think). Useful should an emergency crop up.
