Are you coming for a holiday? Firstly don't bin your Ehic card. That might still work depends on Boris... next check your bank account/ credit card, mine covers me for most things as long as I don't go base jumping...

After all that, I guess I'd be looking on money supermarket etc... see what Martin recommends...

I would tend to agree with Bobley about this.

I am pretty confident that after Brexit, both the U.K. and Spanish governments will want their citizens to have carefree holidays in either of their countries, especially Spain as British tourism is of a vital importance to their economy and they won’t want to put U.K. citizens off going there.

The Portuguese government has already said that the situation will remain the same even, or when, the U.K. leaves the EU, reasoning that we will still be Europeans.

Don’t forget that there are excellent private clinics and hospitals which may be covered by your home or private health insurance.

Look at a comparison site (gocompare for example) for travel insurance quotes and ensure you have decent cover for health issues......although previous health issues will complicate matters and add a lot to the cost.

Just to clarify are you looking for travel insurance or Health insurance ie

International health insurance is designed to offer a comprehensive level of healthcare cover to those relocating from their home country for a sustained period of time, whereas travel insurance is geared towards providing cover for emergency treatment while you are in another country for a short period of time.

International health insurance can be bought in the UK check out such companies as Axaglobalhealthcare or Sanitas part of the Bupa family or Bupa in Spain or Allianz

No I am not an Insurance Sales agent but an European Expat

In that case take legal advice. Staying in Spain post transition means you may need to apply for residency. I'm no expert as I'm not ready to make the full jump but I have seen recent posts by Tracy Knight ( translator) from Mallorca regarding people staying in Spain without any form form government registration and having real issue with health insurance.

It’s perhaps also worth bearing in mind that private insurance policies do NOT cover pandemics such as the one we/you are suffering at the moment.

It’s also more than likely that the Spanish NHS will treat national citizens before foreign ones.

As Bobley, I’m staying put until all this has blown over.
