Default Doctors

Hi all

Can someone tell me where the doctors surgery is please and the open hours etc? Due to arrive on Saturday, eldest child has been healthy all year but seems to have the start of a cough .... just concerned it will progress into something whilst we are there and be passed on to the baby who caught croup early this year and frightened us all the way to a&e. Just want all info before we arrive just in case!!

Thank you

Hi,

Can highly recommend Dr Francisco - actually had to visit myself last week and had an appointment within half hour of calling. Others in family all previously used him too.

Telephone 971 868 223

He speaks excellent English and I believe can be called 24 hrs a day.

His surgery is just a minutes walk down a street in between the Burger King and Dakota tex mex on the beach front at the Gola beach area.

It is a private clinic so you need to pay up front and reclaim from insurance.

I think the local "NHS" is to be found in Pollenca town. during thev summer months. We have had cause to use it on numerous occasions when the children were young. Doctors all very good and the cough medicine that was prescribed worked really well. There used to be a surgery in PP(near the swimming pool) but that was only for the winter months. Sorry if this information is out of date and I hope all goes well.

Bear in mind the excess on your policy. On a visit to a private doctor a number of years ago I was charged 60€, my excess was £100 so couldn't claim anything!
Best to visit the doctors at the health centre (nr the indoor pool) with your blue card and your passport. Alternatively the pharmacists offer very good advice.

Just to add, last year I needed to see a doctor so asked at the pharmacy on the Pollenca road for advice. I was given the address of a private doctor and also the address of the "EHIC" clinic and doctors.
The clinic is very new and up on the same road as the swimming pool but further along towards Formentor.
The service was great. My card was scanned and I sat in the lovely open waiting area, not for long, within about five minutes I was seen by a doctor who spoke very good English and I was out and gone within ten minutes and no cost!
Just to end, the course of antibiotics was under ten pounds. I would think that a clinic so new would be open all year but please check.

The medical center where you use your EHIC is in C/ Vicenc Buades and is in between the swimming pool and La Vall Bar/ Cafeteria and i think they open at about 9am.

P.S. Both the medical center in PP and PACS in the Town are open all year round.

You will find some useful telephone numbers here :- Tourist Information - Pollensa - Mallorca Majorca, also the PACS (emergency clinic) is in the Town just behind the childrens play area and is open 24/7.

Fingers crossed that you won't need them.

Might be an idea to add some of them to your mobile phone, so you don't have to look them up in an emergency.

Can anyone tell me if these details for Dr Fransisco are still valid / correct. Would like to make an appointment for tomorrow? Alternatively any other suggestions for a good English speaking Doctor? Many thanks.

Just to update my own post and for future forum reference I called Dr Francisco Caro Gallego at 4 C/ La Gola first thing this morning and got a 9.30 appointment.
Dr Francisco is a charming man who speaks excellent English and after a brief consultation walked out with prescription for Anti Biotics etc.
Going back later in the week to check on progress and confirm safe to fly home.
Consultation cost was €80 which is not extortionate even if you have no insurance (I have).
Highly recommended
