Default Broadband Availability

Hi

I wonder if any of you living in Puerto Pollensa could help me with some information.
I can work from home as long as I have reliable Broadband connection and I am currently
considering spending 6 months working abroad.
1. Is a Broadband internet connection available in Puerto Pollensa/Pollensa town ?
2. A rough idea of monthly cost of a one bedroom flat on say a 6 months lease Oct to Mar
in Puerto Pollensa/Pollensa town.
3. Is it advisable to have Spanish solicitor involved in renting property on this sort of
timescale.
If any of you can assist that would be great.

Allan.

hi Allan, we have recently relocated to Pollensa area (so bac), we had problems arranging internet and telephone, internet connection impossible in our area, however we arranged mobile dongle with movistar, and have had no problems with connection, like you we use internet for our business and have been able to have 3 of us working off the one dongle, sim, plenty of rental apt around so should not be a problem for you, we love it here, best move we have made, go for it

Penny arcade, a dongle?! Hope you don't have to use a lot of bandwidth!
I live in your area and for the past four years have used IBRed. 4 mb real connection and no bottlenecks. Might work our cheaper than recharging your dongle?

Hi Allan,
If it is for work I would say use IBred, a lot of companies round here use it and it is very reliable. Internet/broadband is very much available here.
A one bedroom apartment during the winter months would be in the region of 400 to 500 € per month depending on the quality etc.

For a short term rental contract I would suggest a local Gestor, they would draw up a contract in both English/Spanish and are cheaper than a solicitor.
Good Luck

Smile Broadband

I live in Puerto Pollensa and rely on my broadband to get work to and from UK.
I have used telefonica from the beginning and have found it boringly reilable.

I know friends in Pollensa town and going towards Sa Pobla who swear by IB red.

Until it lets me down, I'm staying with telefonica!

I hope this is helpful.

Cheers!

thanks for the info Paul, I will check out IBRed, seems that they are popular and others rate them, we have quite a good speed and doesnt seem to be a problem with our bandwidth, not sure of the cost, we are on a monthly contract, with 30 days notice of opt out,, which we set up when we were in rented accommodation, in south at lady telcom, seems that we have a good deal when we read the problems others have with a dongle,
